This sturdy steel D-ring creates a stable tie-down point in your trailer or truck bed. Recessed design lets you roll cargo over the D-ring without interference. Installs easily with the included backing plate and hardware. WLL is 400 lbs.

Note: Tie-down anchors must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the anchors being used. For example, if you are using anchors with a WLL of 100 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 400 lbs, then you need at least 4 anchors to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use anchors in pairs.

Today we'll be reviewing part number RR1K. These are the Brophy D-Ring Anchor with backing plate and hardware tie down points. They're made from a nice steel construction with a zinc plated finish so they're going to stand up well against rust and corrosion. They're going to have a maximum load or break strength capacity of 1200 pounds with a safe working load limit of 400 pounds. The D-Ring Anchors provide tie down points in your utility trailer or truck bed which makes these perfect for securing a rope, cargo net, bungee cord or ratchet strap. All those are sold separately.
It has a recessed low profile design that's going to help prevent the D-Ring from interfering as you roll cargo in and out of your trailer or truck bed. It also has a really nice vacuum plate that reinforces the surface of your trailer where the tie down is attached. This would simply install directly under the D-Ring anchor and on the opposite side of the mounting surface. All the mounting holes do line up well with each other so once you have everything installed you should be ready to go. It is a bolt-on installation onto the flat surface. All you need to do is cut a hole in your trailer or truck bed for the recessed portion of the D-Ring to sit inside. We can go ahead and measure that for you that way you know what size diameter hole that you are going to need to cut.
The overall length of the recessed portion is right at 3 inches. It's a 3 inch diameter hole would be sufficient to get this to fit in the floor of your utility trailer or truck bed. Then you simply just attach the vacuum plate directly underneath the D-Ring Anchor and on the opposite side of the mounting surface, so here on the backside. It does come with 3 bolts, 3 nuts and 3 lock washers. A couple measurements to go over real quick. Here on our D-Ring we actually have 3 mounting holes, pre-drilled anchor points.
If we measure from the center of the 2 outermost holes, center on center is 4 inches. From that center hole to the center of the outer hole is going to measure center to center 2 inches. Overall length of this is going to measure 5 inches. When we come to the backing plate and do our measurement here, it's going to measure about an eighth of an inch in thickness and it's going to measure about 6 and a half inches by 6 inches. Again the mounting holes are all lined up to fit the mounting holes on the D-Ring Anchor tie down. You can see here that the D-Ring actually lays out of place when not in use so that way it's going to help create or help maintain that nice flat surface in your truck bed or utility trailer.
The D-Ring bar here, the shackle has a diameter of a quarter of an inch. The recessed portion here is five-sixteenths of an inch in depth. When we measure the width of our anchor it's going to give us a measurement of three and nine-sixteenths of an inch wide. I believe that's going to do it for today's review of part number RR1K, this is the Brophy D-Ring Anchor with backing plate and hardware. .

1yr update: these still are working fine with one flaw. There is no drain hole. the cups easily fill with water of course that should have been obvious from the start. Its hot here in Texas and I assumed the water would evaporate quickly with no changes but it doesnt. I first drilled a 18 hole near the bottom rounded corner of the cup to drain the water, which works if it wasnt for the debris. They also easily collect various plant debris unless you store yours in a garage which is unlikely for this type of trailer. so the 18 hole clogs. next I went to a 316 hole. It still has the propensity to clog. plant debris + standing water = rust. Im unsure of how big of a hole you can go before you begin to compromise the strengthrating of the cup & tie down assembly. These should have been designed with the appropriate sized hole already cut, or at least a guideline of how big and where I could drill my own holes. Unless you need the flush mount swivel kind, the surface mount D-Ring type would eliminate this long term failure mechanism cup rusting out. No, the plating wont protect it forever and I painted any exposed metal to combat any issues.

Still would prefer carriage bolts in the installation kit for cargo to slide across rather than catch and damage the cargo. That change would make these the BEST PRODUCT by far.

Ive now hauled a couple vehicles in the trailer, utilizing these anchors. I would definitely buy again, and as a matter of fact I am planning to get a few more to install. I just need a few more so I have more tie-down options.
