This actuator is built to handle serious weight. With a 20,000-lb gross towing weight and a 2,000-lb maximum tongue weight, it gives your trailer the braking muscle it needs when you’re hauling heavy equipment or tall loads. The hydraulic surge design delivers steady braking force as soon as your tow vehicle slows down, keeping everything under control without the need for electronics or extra wiring.
Dial in your coupler height easily with the 5-position adjustable channel. The offset design gives you extra drop, which is especially useful for tall trailers that need a lower coupling point to ride level. It fits a variety of coupler styles (sold separately) like ball couplers, lunette rings, or clevis mounts, so you can set things up exactly how you want them.
The unique roller setup inside this actuator cuts down on resistance as it telescopes during braking. That means smoother, more direct movement and consistent hydraulic pressure every time you stop. The straight-line motion keeps wear low and braking performance stable across long hauls or heavy use.
The body is made from strong steel that resists bending even if you find yourself in a tight jackknife situation. Its zinc-plated finish stands up well in wet or corrosive environments, making it a solid choice for long-term use on work or boat trailers.
A built-in breakaway system provides an extra measure of protection if the trailer separates from your tow vehicle. It’s ready to activate the brakes automatically in an emergency, helping bring things to a stop and minimizing potential damage.

Speaker 1: Today, we're taking a look at a Titan Hydraulic Brake Actuator. This hydraulic actuator activates your trailer's brakes when your tow vehicle slows or stops. Now, when you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward once your tow vehicle starts to slow down. When this happens, the actuator contracts, applying force to its master cylinder and this, in turn, supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.Located here at the back, we have the reservoir. You have the reservoir cap for brake fluid, and then you have the connection point for the hydraulic lines.
Now, keep in mind that because this actuator does not include a reverse lockout, it is recommended that you equip your trailer with free-backing brakes so that you can drive in reverse without the actuator triggering your trailer's brakes. The gross towing weight capacity on this unit is 20,000 pounds. The maximum tongue weight capacity is 2,000 pounds, and it is a bolt-on installation. It mounts to a straight, three-inch wide trailer tongue. Now, the offset adjustable channel has five different mounting positions for a coupler. Couplers are sold separately, but one of the really neat things about this unit is this portion here.
Again, this is the adjustable channel. It allows ultimate versatility, so you can mount almost any type of coupler to the unit, from a standard ball coupler to a lunette ring or clevis attachment. That way, you can ensure that this unit is going to fit your application. In addition, the multiple mounting positions on the channel let you adjust the height of the coupler, so all you have to do is place the coupler in a location so that it matches the height of the ball or other hitch attachment on your tow vehicle. That way, you're able to tow your trailer as level as possible. Now internally, it has a unique roller design, which is designed to reduce resistance during telescoping to create straight line movement.
The built-in drop is great for taller trailers. We're looking at a sturdy, durable steel construction. It is designed to resist bending, especially in those jackknife situations. It has corrosion-resistant, zinc-plated finishing and it does come with the breakaway, so that's the chain right here. This would connect to the tow vehicle and in the event where the tow vehicle and the trailer disconnect, your tow vehicle will pull the chain, which will pull this lever and move it.
That will activate the brakes on the trailer, bringing it to an eventual stop.Again, it's bolt-on installation. It's designed for trailers with disc brakes and the last thing I want to mention is maintenance on the unit. You have grease zerks located here and here as well as here and here, so you can attach a grease gun. Apply the appropriate amount of grease to lubricate the internal components. Then the overall length measurement, I measure from very front to this point here. Got a measurement of 24 5/8 inches. Measuring to the back of these tabs here measured about 26 inches in overall length. That's going to do it for today's look at the Titan Hydraulic Brake Actuator.
