Most Popular Backup Camera Systems for 2021 Ram 1500

Bought to go on the rear of a 26ft travel trail;er. Was concerned with a delay reception being wireless but it's hardly noticeable. We don't have the trailer yet but tested it from over 100ft with obstructions and it worked surprisingly well. I like that my phone is the screen vs having a screen mounted to my truck.

It was easy to install but terrible to use.Images on your phone screen are very difficult to see good enough to prevent a problem. I tried it about three,four times and that's it, no more.I can do better without it.

I would have given this a higher score if it were not for the lack of decent instructions or how the mirror actually works, Secondly, I don't like the fuse placement on the mirror, I will splice it out and add it somewhere else that is accessible. I do like the fact you can connect 3 cameras, again, no instructions how the mirror switches between the two. After testing, when a camera is powered, the screen show that particular camera. I will be adding the cargo cam and an additional front cam to my aux switches so I have control over them. Also, the cargo cam is 620 lines, as advertised but no specs on the mirror monitor. After receiving the item, the mirror only produces 480 lines. Not deal breaker as the picture quality is good for a 4.3" screen. Haven't installed yet, but did bench test on the cargo cam as well as an additional cam I purchased. Works flawlessly. Overall, not a bad product, just need some more info/instructions and options for the mirror fuse.

I just recently purchased and installed the hopkins camera HM60195VA and say I love it. It's an easy install for my dodge challenger and helps out beyond words when backing up. The install only took about an hour and if your not really looking you can't tell there is a camera there. The wiring was simple and plenty long enough and the monitor looks like it belongs there. I highly recommend this set up.

I installed a backup camera on my 40' 5th wheel travel trailer. LOVE it! Dialed in the guidelines, flipped the image to mirror view and can nail the tight parking spaces like a professional. Lets me keep an eye on the bikes on the bike rack too. The night vision feature is great. The microphone/speaker works well when I need a real person spotting (which is almost never now). Now my wife can just talk to me, no more yelling. Installation wasn't too difficult as the cable fit behind the weather strip along the corners of the coach. If you want to know what's in the blind spot behind you, good choice here. And the monitor has 2 more video connections to use too. Might add a hookup camera next. Anyway, buy it.

I have a pull behind camper and I like to see what is behind the camper as I go down the road. The camera is wired to an AUX switch so I can have it on when I need it. The camera is also great for backing the camper. The monitor is mounted to a block of wood to fit in two of the four cup holders so I can store it when not in use, out of sight.

The camera is of high quality, as is the rearview mirror and monitor. I did have to return the first mirror because the bracket didn't match my 2013 Ram 1500's windshield mount, even though it was listed as a universal fit. The Ram has a triangular type fitting. I tapped into the reverse light wiring for power. l ended up having to replace the incandescent reverse light bulbs with LED bulbs because the monitor image flickered badly until I installed the LEDs. I think this was because the BCM (Body Control Module) got confused with the additional power draw. Since then the camera and monitor have worked flawlessly. It provides a great view behind the truck, even at night. Because of the placement on the bumper it doesn't have a good view of the hitch ball, but I don't tow very often. Overall I have been very pleased and feel that the camera is well worth the price.

My wife rode with a friend for lunch who had a new car with a back-up camera. She was really impressed and was talking about buying a new car to replace her 2011 Ford Escape that would have the backup camera. I found a video showing how to install the camera on an Escape by etrailer. I was impressed by the company and bought a unit. It arrived quickly and I was able to install it following the instructions I had watched. It took me a couple of hours to install, the hardest part being fishing the cables to the rear of the car. Once installed it worked great. My wife is very, very happy with the install. She says she is much more confident in parking her car. Thanks a lot. I would, and do recommend etrailer and the back up camera kit.

im very pleased with the product (camera & rear view mirror) takes a little work to get the cables run through your vehicle (f150) and finding a good power source (my problem) had one issue with a cable mfg took care of it over all had it installed for 1 year very happy got it manly for conecting to our travel trailer but use it all the time now

Every thing in the kit look like good stuff haven't installed yet.

There was a missing clip necessary to activate the brake lights.

The installed led light harness almost fits the brake light housing. I had to make a few modifications to make it fit. Other than that it works perfectly.

THE ITEM WAS CORRECT AND IS EXACTLY WHAT MY CUSTOMER WANTED

The quality of the parts seem good but the directions to install everything were horrible (essentially none existent) and I had to go to [online] to figure out how to remove my factory mirror for the new mirror install and the wiring I figured out by trial and error. The camera kit should have included longer screws to replace the stock screws on the F250 brake light. The order was delayed about a month due to supply chain shortages. Once I got got it all together it works well, just disappointed in the instructions and should have provided replacement screws.

The directions are poor at best. You have to figure it out on your own, which isn't a real big problem, but some additional information would be nice. The bezel for the camera is nice, but doesn't fit 100%. Its close enough, but you have to play with it a little. Additionally, I'm not sure why the camera has a 6' cable, then there is a REQUIRED 24' cable to then connect to another 6' cable to the mirror. I'm wanting to install the mirror in my truck, not the truck in front of me. I don't need 36' of cable, its a Crew Cab, not a buss. So it means you have ALOT of cable to stash. Also, other than changing the brightness, I have no idea what the POWER button on the mirror does. I wired to a switched power source figuring I could just press the power button to turn the monitor on and off. Guess what.. you can't. It is ON. To have this work right, you'd have to figure out a way to wire it to the reverse light switch. And once you find this issue (despite the item description clearly stating the power button can be used to turn it on and off), good luck getting help from etrailer. Was told I would be contacted by someone from technical support days ago... its been crickets. It also sucks the mirror is autodiming, despite what looks like light sensors front and rear, it does not dim (only found that mentioned in the two page "manual/install guide".

Instructions are not real helpful, needed to call the manufacturer to assist in installation, needed to buy a rca connector to complete the hookup, it was not furnished, overall nice addition to my truck

One of our Technicians has about 20 years in truck aftermarket setup and thought that this rear view camera was as good as it gets. In all, the quality, installation flexibility, video quality and adjustments made this product something that we will purchase again. The compass and temperature were a bonus as well as remote control adjustments for grid lines , brightness and such. This shipped very quickly and all components are well labeled and packed. The directions are easy to follow. Our installation is mounted below a safety warning LED light so it is protected but something etrailer might think about is a surround escutcheon type thing for added protection.

Great choice. Works very well. My truck lacked 3 things that I had gotten used to having - compass, outdoor air temp gauge. and rear view camera. This solved them all! Takes some trial/error to get temp probe in right spot.

Was easy to install and the quality of the picture was rather surprising. Very clear and bright. Definitely recommend for anyone wanting to ease the hookup for a Fifth Wheel with a goose neck adapter.

This was fairly easy to install. Works great for lining up on our fifth wheel trailer hitch.
