When you’re not towing, you’ll barely notice this base plate is there. The hidden reinforcement and removable bracket arms keep the front end clean with no bulky crossbar or brackets sticking out. Once you pull the tabs, it’s completely unobtrusive—just like it came from the factory.
This setup uses a sturdy, dependable steel design that bolts to the chassis—no welding required. The way it’s built spreads towing force evenly to help keep stress off your suspension while holding solid through long trips. It’s the kind of confidence you want when you’re logging serious miles.
Hooking up is simple thanks to the twist-lock attachment system. The removable arms slide into place, twist to lock, and secure for towing. When you’re done, pop them out for a smooth front end again. That easy-on, easy-off design saves time every time you hit the road.
The base plate fits Blue Ox Aventa, Aladdin, Alpha, and Avail tow bars right out of the box. If you’re running a Roadmaster tow bar, just use adapter RM-031 or RM-031-5 (sold separately). The integrated mounting points make it easy to attach an electrical connector plug or bracket if you want to keep wiring tidy up front.
Everything you need comes in the box—clear instructions and all necessary hardware. The bolt-on design means no welding, just a solid install that fits cleanly and stays put. With a bracket distance of 34-1/2" and bracket height of 24-1/2", it’s easy to plan your setup and get towing confidently in no time.

I am glad you were able to get it installed with no issues and a little help from our video! What kind of coach are you pulling the Kia Soul with?

Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Thanks for the detailed review Chris, and the pointers! This will be most helpful to others. What was your favorite stop in those 7,000 miles? Where did you go, what did you see?

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.

It has been a good system. I would still give it 4 stars a year later just because it was a difficult job to install. Not for the faint of heart. So far have about 6k miles of towing with it. Would I do it again….Yes as it was worth the effort.
