If you like your vehicle to keep a clean look when you’re not towing, this setup hits the mark. The hidden design keeps the brackets tucked out of sight, and the arms come off with a simple twist. Nothing sticks out from the front, so you won’t be bumping into hardware in the driveway. Receiver covers plug into the openings to keep dirt and debris out of the base plate for a tidy finish every time.

Connecting for flat towing doesn’t need to be a chore. Each arm slides into the receiver and locks in place with a quick twist. When you’re finished towing, pull the pin to release, rotate, and lift them out—it’s that easy. The twist-lock design gives you a solid, repeatable connection that’s fast to set up whether you’re at home or on the road.

This kit bolts directly to your chassis—no welding required—and uses a sturdy steel design that spreads towing forces evenly across the frame. That means less stress on suspension components and more confidence over long distances. It’s powder coated to resist rust and corrosion, so it stays solid through years of use and weather.
Designed to pair perfectly with Blue Ox tow bars, this base plate forms a secure link between your vehicle and your motorhome. If you use Roadmaster or Demco gear, it adapts easily with the appropriate adapters (RM-031, RM-031-5, or DM9523041, sold separately). Integrated mounting points make it simple to attach an electrical connector bracket up front for a clean wiring layout.
This base plate goes on with included mounting hardware and bolts securely to your vehicle’s chassis—no welding required. With a bracket height of 14" and 24" between brackets, it’s built for precision fitment. Once installed, you get a dependable connection that looks sharp and performs smoothly trip after trip.

Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Thanks for the detailed review Chris, and the pointers! This will be most helpful to others. What was your favorite stop in those 7,000 miles? Where did you go, what did you see?

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.

It has been a good system. I would still give it 4 stars a year later just because it was a difficult job to install. Not for the faint of heart. So far have about 6k miles of towing with it. Would I do it again….Yes as it was worth the effort.
