If you like a clean look when you’re not towing, this base plate makes it happen. The hidden design keeps the front end seamless, and the arms remove with a simple twist so nothing sticks out past the bumper. Receiver covers plug into the empty sockets to keep dirt and debris out and give the front a finished look.

Getting ready to tow doesn’t need to take all afternoon. Each arm slides into the receivers, twists to lock, and secures with a pull pin. When you’re done towing, just reverse the process—pull the pin, rotate, and remove. It’s quick, straightforward, and solid every time you connect.

This base plate bolts directly to the chassis—no welding required—and spreads towing forces evenly to help protect your suspension. The durable steel construction is powder coated to resist rust and corrosion, so it’s ready for miles of towing without worry.
You can pair it directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a secure connection, or use an adapter if you’re running a different setup—Roadmaster (RM-031 or RM-031-5) or Demco (DM9523041), each sold separately. Integrated mounting points make it easy to attach an electrical connector bracket so your wiring stays organized and within reach.
If you like tackling projects yourself, this setup is designed for that. The installation is straightforward and bolts securely to your chassis using the included hardware—no welding needed. Once installed, you’ve got a solid base plate that’s aligned, secure, and ready for dependable towing.

Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Thanks for the detailed review Chris, and the pointers! This will be most helpful to others. What was your favorite stop in those 7,000 miles? Where did you go, what did you see?

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.
