Features to know about

Smooths Out the Bumps: Air-Cushioned Shock Absorbing Design

Rough roads and heavy trailers can make towing feel harsh and jerky. This mount’s heavy-duty air bag and cushioned bumpers take the shock out of the ride by absorbing road impact and reducing chucking between your truck and trailer. The adjustable air bag lets you fine-tune how much cushion you want, keeping things smooth without feeling stiff. It’s built for serious loads with 2" (10,000 lbs) and 2-5/16" (20,000 lbs) balls, so even heavy hauls ride comfortably.

Levels Out Different Trailers: Adjustable 0"–8-1/2" Drop

Keeping your trailer level means better control and even wear on your gear. This setup gives you a full 0"–8-1/2" drop with 12 positions to match different trailer heights. Just pull the easy-to-grasp D-handles, move the ball platform up or down, and lock it back in place. You can also flip the platform to switch between the 2" and 2-5/16" balls for quick changes when towing different trailers.

Built to Haul Heavy: 20K Capacity with Grade 50 Steel

When you’re towing heavy equipment or big campers, strength matters more than anything. The cold-rolled steel shank and thick Grade 50 steel side plates deliver serious durability rated up to 20,000 lbs gross towing weight and 2,000 lbs tongue weight on the 2-5/16" ball. The one-piece ball and platform design adds built-in strength for reliable towing every time you hook up.

Stays Dependable in All Conditions: Matte Black Powder Coat

Weather and road grime can beat up a hitch fast, but this one’s built to stand up to it. The shot-blasted, matte black powder-coated steel shank keeps rust at bay, while the silver powder-coated steel balls resist corrosion from salt or moisture. It’s a setup you can leave on the truck without worrying about finish wear or sticking parts over time.

Simple Upkeep That Keeps You Rolling: Grease Zerk at Pivot Point

Maintenance is straightforward thanks to the built-in grease zerk fitting at the pivot point. A quick shot of grease keeps everything moving smoothly so the air bag and moving parts do their job every trip. It’s one of those small details that helps keep your hitch working quietly and lasting longer under tough towing conditions.

Video Transcript for Shocker Hitch HD Air Ball Mounts | Manufacturer Interview

Hello, neighbors. It's Brad here from Etrailer and today I'm at N.A.T.M and this convention brings a lot of the vendors that we have at Etrailer to a convention where we have their booths and their products set up. I had a chance to catch up with quite a few of them. So let's take a look at their products a little bit up close in, ask some of the questions to those vendors about their products. I'm here with Hunter from Shocker Hitch and they have some products that really stand out from any other towing components. They have some cool technology.

So first and foremost, Hunter, what is Shocker Hitch So Shocker Hitch, what we do is we essentially take the air ride concept that's been around for a long time and we're putting it on a trailer hitch. Now in a sense we're taking that connection and sending it through an airbag now, kinda letting the pickup and trailer do their own thing going down the road instead of fighting each other. So now what we're doing is we're absorbing that energy that transfers between the two, sending it through our airbag. So now it's not going through the frames of everything, which then it creates a smooth ride for you. Creates a smooth ride for what's in or on the trailer.

Plus then it just helps with longevity of the equipment. You know, now we're taking care of the equipment and not having all that shock go through and you know, drive, train, welds, I mean all that stuff. You betcha. Yeah. Yeah.

And that's as he mentioned, you know, as you tow a lot of people look for truck suspension enhancements or things along those nature, but having the connection point where two metal objects hit have cushion, you're right, it translates to that whatever you have race cars, horses, whatever it may be, that's gonna keep all of your components that you have on your trailer safe down the road. Right. Yep. Yeah. And most, you know, most of the convention, like the air suspension on your pickup of your trailer, that's an up and down cushioning effect that they're doing there.

Our hitch we are doing some up and down, but the true focus on our hitch is the forward and back tug that you're getting and that's where we're essentially being a great compliment to those systems with ours is you got the up and down with the majority of that, then you're getting that tug and cushion with ours. So ball mounts. Hunter Yep. You just kind of offer, obviously, you know, you hook it up, you'd be able to tow your trailer and have that cushioning, but also as you fill it doesn't, it kinda acts as an anti-rattle at the same time, doesn't it Yeah, exactly. So our bumper hitches are kind of our staple, you know, this was the first product that we came out with and then everything else kind of followed. So this was our staple and this is what we've really focused on for. I shouldn't say really focused, but this has been kind of our staple for a long time. So yeah, when you fill these hitches up in a sense this will slide into your receiver just like on your pickup or any of your tow vehicle. Got the two, two and a half, three inch. You're not having to run reducers or anything like that. So we've got no air in this one here to where you can see it's free, there's a gap here. So you essentially just slide this in and then as you put your trailer on here, it's gonna push down and compress that airbag. Then all you do is you'll fill it up just till this mainframe starts touching this rear cushion again. And then you're set. And then now while you're doing that, now this paddle is clamped underneath that receiver, which then is locked that hitch in, which is giving you essentially your built in anti-rattle. Brad And that way the airbag can really do all of it 'cause it's nice and solid here and that bag's gonna get- Hunter Exactly. Brad All of that movement. That bag has taken all that now to where, I mean, you know, if you don't have really an anti-rattle here, that play in there is taking an effect to when that cushioning is actually gonna start in a sense too. So, you know, if you've got a bunch of play there, the cushioning is only doing so much with what it can do there. So you bet. Yep. And you guys, obviously you can see on the sign here, but you guys have tons of different applications. So pintle, different balls, combo, a little bit of everything. Yeah, we've offered a, you know, we've really worked hard on getting a very vast variety of attachments for any towing option that you have all, like you said, our combo balls definitely are most popular. Our pintle are right behind it, but like we got rise mounts, drop mounts, we have attachments with sway bars on there. So if you run an anti-sway easy hookup there, egg-based stuff, clevis, drawbars, we got a cushion drawbar. So, yeah, we've really focused hard on making sure that we have very universal attachments for all of our stuff to help in any towing situation. So. Brad And USA made USA made always. Awesome. Well thank you Hunter for taking the time to break down Shocker Hitch and all of the products. Appreciate. Fantastic stuff. Appreciate you guys you stopping. Have a great one, all right Thank you.

Such a strong well built trailer hitch! The air bag creates such a smooth and quiet trailer pull. You will not be disappointed, the 8 1/2” drop is perfect for my 2500 HD

Well made, easy to use hitch. Im hoping to have, and use for a very long time. I decided I needed the 2 locks so that someone cant steal the ball or the hitch.

Pricey, but worth it. The air-cushioned design noticeably reduces trailer bounce and the harsh feedback transferred into the truck, making towing smoother and much more enjoyable. After using it, I wouldn’t want to go back to a standard hitch.

  • Weight Distribution Hitch for 2026 Chevy Silverado 3500 Towing Brinkley Z Air 297
Hey Michael! When you're choosing a weight distribution hitch the most important factor is the tongue weight of the trailer. It looks like the dry/unloaded tongue weight of a Brinkley Z Air 297 is 924 lbs. Once you add batteries and propane you will be up over 1,000 lbs before anything else is loaded in the trailer. Tongue weight is typically 10-15% of the loaded trailer weight. Looking at the GVWR of 13,495 lbs that could potentially get as high as 2,000 lbs but I expect you to be more...

  • Shocker Hitch for Weight Distribution System
Hi Blaine! I'm sorry to say the Shocker HD Max # SHK32GR cannot be used with a weight distribution hitch. The design of the ball mount doesn't match the standard shank needed to attach a weight distribution head. If you want the benefits of a Shocker Hitch with your weight distribution system, you can use the Shocker Air Equalizer # SHK68VR (2" receiver) or # SHK88VR (2-1/2" receiver). These replace your standard weight distribution shank and add an air bag and bump stops to help absorb...
