When you’re towing different trailers, lining up the coupler height can make or break how smooth things feel on the road. This adjustable aluminum ball mount gives you up to a 10" drop and an 11" rise in 1" increments, letting you dial in the perfect setup for level, stable towing. The adjustment pin is included, so switching between setups is quick and solid every time.
Big trailers demand real strength. With a 10,000-lb gross trailer weight rating on the 2-5/16" ball and 8,000 lbs on the 2" ball, this mount is built to handle serious hauling jobs. The aluminum alloy shank keeps it strong yet lightweight, so you get heavy-duty towing performance without extra bulk hanging off the back of your truck.
Keeping hitch balls clean and moving smoothly doesn’t have to mean dealing with sticky grease. The greaseless AlumiBall design uses a nylon cap on top of each solid aluminum ball—2" on one side and 2-5/16" on the other—to let the coupler rotate easily during turns. It prevents buildup, keeps your hands clean, and makes swapping trailers a lot simpler.
If you pull more than one kind of trailer, this two-sided platform saves a ton of time. Flip it to use either the 2" or 2-5/16" ball without tools or extra hardware. The balls secure with an internal pin that’s easy to remove when you need to swap them out, and additional sizes can be added later if your setup changes.
The aluminum shank resists rust and keeps its clean look even after miles on the road. Like most adjustable mounts, there might be a little movement between parts, but once there’s weight on the hitch it settles in for a smooth pull. It’s dependable gear that stays strong through everyday towing.

The adjustable aluminum ball mount with the built in hitch balls allows you to tow a trailer with your vehicle. So it fits inside of a two inch by two inch trailer hitch receiver, it's aluminum so it's a very strong, lightweight unit, it looks great, and it won't rust or corrode.You can see here that we have quite a bit of drop. It can also be flipped over and used in the rise. So this is gonna be great for larger vehicles, or for vehicles that have maybe a lift to it. It's recommended for vehicles with greater than 24 inches from the ground to the top of the receiver opening of the hitch when the vehicle is level.It can adjust in increments of one inch.
I wanna point out that the grooves are the adjustment points, so it doesn't actually go the full length of this adjustable shank, so just down here, you can adjust in increments of one inch. If you have it in the lowest setting, from the inside top edge of the receiver tube of your hitch, down to the top of this platform in the lowest setting, is a 10 inch drop. If you flip it over, and have it at the highest setting, it's gonna give you a maximum rise of around 11 inches, and again, incremental height adjustment, one inch.This unit allows towing of various trailers by using the same ball mount. So not only can you adjust it up and down, which is great for leveling the vehicle with the trailer coupler height, but also you can tow trailers that may have different coupler sizes. So you have a two and five sixteenth inch ball, and you have a two inch ball.
Now to switch between them, all you need to do is pull out the adjustment pin. This allows you to adjust that platform up and down the mount. So you pull that out, flip this over, and you can re install it. So that's how you switch from one ball to the other. Now if you ever need to replace the balls, that's a one piece design, so it's a solid piece.
It just fits, or slides into that platform. There's a pin on the back that you can remove and that will allow you to remove the actual hitch balls from the ball mount platform. And you could replace that whole unit, or if you wanna get one that has a one and seven eighth inch ball, you can do that as well. But it does come with a two inch, and a two and five sixteenth inch ball.Now you'll notice that these hitch balls have these caps on them. These are greaseless nylon caps.
So it comes with two greaseless aluminum ball hitch balls, two sided platform, two inch, and two and five sixteenth, the greaseless nylon caps allow for easy rotation between the actual ball and the coupler from the trailer when towing. So no kinking, no locking, no binding.You will need a pin and clip or a hitch lock to secure this inside the receiver tube of your hitch. Those items are sold separately and available at etrailer.com. Part's made in the US, it fits a two inch by two inch trailer hitch receiver. It's also compatible with two and a half inch hitches, you'll just need a reducer sleeve. Which, those are sold separately, we have some to choose from here at etrailer.com if you don't already have one.When it comes to the weight capacity, when using the two inch ball, you have an eight thousand pound gross trailer weight capacity, 10 000 pound with the two and five sixteenth inch ball, and the unit itself has a ton weight capacity of 1500 pounds. I went over the drop and rise measurements, so now I just wanna mention from the center of the hitch pin hole out to the center of the hitch balls, that measurement is about nine and one quarter inches.That's gonna do it for today's look at the Rapid Hitch Adjustable Aluminum Ball Mount from Andersen.

I really like this hitch. Very good quality. Only short fall is that it should include the locks due you can't buy them in any store due to the length is longer than the normal pin lock. I recommend that should be sold as a combo. picture has the locks required
I ordered my AM3405 and was amazed how quickly the etrailer team responded with not only my order confirmation but the fantastic follow up when it was shipped and delivered. I highly recommend etrailer and will order from them again.
The product showed up in great shape and I am very happy with the quality. One recommendation would be to order two of the locking pins. One for the receiver and one to lock the ball mount to the unit. You will see by my picture I resolved that issue with a pad lock but the locking pin would have been better.
This is a really nice hitch if you tow a variety of trailers or need to get your ball up high as I need to do on my 1999 F450. I needed the ball up high to level my Jeep tow bar, so this is just the ticket for me. This hitch is made in the USA, which is great too. eTrailer.com service is excellent and their communication perfect. They obviously care about their customers and the product.
Only 2 things prevent a 5 star rating for this very pricey hitch. IMO, for the money, the manufacturer should also include: 1. a lock pin for the adjustable hitch ball. 2: an anti-rattle attachment.
Works flawlessly. I was very excited the day I got home and my Rapid hitch was on the front porch. It came in nice box and was packaged very well. I opened it up and unpacked my rapid hitch and I was very impressed with the quality and precision of this hitch. All of the machining was PERFECT and everything fit together right. I put it in my truck right away. Going down the road with the trailer on and off there is absolutely no rattles, clunks, or jolts. I also love how everything is aluminum or stainless steel, NO RUST. I wish I could've gotten the greaseless model but my boat is too heavy. My only complaint is that it doesn't come with locking pins. With a hitch this expensive I really wish it came with them. Do yourself a favor and order them with your rapid hitch so you don't have to pay for shipping in the future. Other than that great product and I believe it will outlast me.
Hello The hitch works great as viewed in the enclosed pictures. If inverted it hits the bumper, of my Dodge 2500. The section that goes into the receiver is about 1/2" too short and hits the bumper. I have not tried it on my other vehicle to see if this is a problem. Kind Regards Leon D
Sooooo....you sent me a product that was somehow put together backwards and I cannot take them apart somehow the ballhitch is stuck on the male portion backwards and defies gravity and doesn’t need a pin to stay on(becaue thier is no where to put the pin in cause it’s backwards
Haven't pulled anything with it yet, but overall it appears to be a quality product. There is over .0500 play in the hitch when mounted in the receiver. That will probably make a lot of noise. The adjustment part of the hitch seems pretty good.
I have been using the Rapid Adjustable Aluminum Ball Mount
hitch for over a year averaging 3 days a week delivering new compact diesel tractors to customers. The hitch has held up very well with no signs of wear.
The Teflon black caps on the ball are awesome when hitching up, there is no problem with the receiver sliding onto the ball when miss aligned. I have recommended this hitch to many of my friends and customers, they too are pleased with the hitch.
I purchased this to replace a Fastway Flash E Series Ball mount that I purchased and returned from another online seller that did not provide enough clearance from my rear bumper in the rise position. My vehicle really needed the extra 5/8ths of an inch of length on the shank of the Rapid Hitch. Clearance was not a problem in the drop position; but with a receiver that's 18-inches off the ground, I need to use the rise position more frequently than many. The other thing I noticed is that this ball mount is feels more substantial than the one from Fastway.
In use, I prefer this to the Andersen EZ hitch I had been borrowing. It looks really cool. It has 5 adjustment positions rather than four and bit more adjustability in either direction. Plus, it still fits in easily in the storage area underneath the floor of my SUV. And did I say it looks really cool. I hated to put grease on the ball before I went to hook up the trailer. Also, I plan to get the lock set. It's looks great on my SUV and seems likely to disappear overnight and look great on someone else's vehicle.

Nice hitch however the actual hitch box had clearly been retaped and was missing the height adjustment pin. Had to make a call to etrailer and they are sending the pin it should have came with.
Really like the hitch. It's very quite with the trailer. I had a chrome plated ball and it squeaked a bunch as the trailer moved. This is much quieter. The drop is just what I needed too.
exactly what I was expecting, great looking product. Had to find the locking stainless pins that Anderson offers at a different site but other than that all is good. shipping was quick and I was kept inform along the way, great customer service! I just placed another order today for some additional items.
I have owned for a year now and no complaints thus far. I do a lot of trailering with several different trailers and it has been a great hitch. Tow vehicle is a 02 2500 Silverado Duramax with 4 1/2 suspension lift. Durable and adjusts easy. Quality hitch.
This is the third Anderson Rapid Hitch I have owned and they are always the best option in my opinion. They not only look awesome......but they are one of the strongest drop hitches on the market!
Very well made , simple and easy to adjust and change the size of the hitch balls. Happy with the quality and the looks of the hitch. The locking pins are easy to use and convenient with both locks keyed alike

I have had this particular hitch for about a year and it still looks as good as it did the day I installed it. Absolutely no issues!
