Today we're going to be taking a look at the Rhino-Rack Cam-Lock Ladder Strap with Snap Shackle, part number SLS5. This Rhino-Rack strap-and-shackle system is an efficient way to secure your ladder or other cargo to your roof-rack system. It attaches to your top channel with the included hardware. The cam-buckle strap goes under your crossbar and over your load where we can hook it into this bracket and then pull it tight. The straps are made with a durable webbing. The components are made with a zinc-plated steel, so they're going to be rust resistant.
The strap is 20" long, and the whole thing features a limited lifetime warranty. Now that we've gone over the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed. Let's go ahead and start with our bracket piece first. Take out our end cap. Ordinarily, you could cut and trim your rubber stripping to first around the bracket, but, for demonstration purposes, we went ahead and removed it. You want to make sure that the threaded plate here is loose enough so we can easily slide it into the channel of our Rhino-Rack crossbars.
You also want to start out with the bracket facing to the rear of the vehicle. We'll just simply slide it on, so you can see how it's going to contour around the bar. That's what we want. Slide it on first. Now let's grab our strap.
Our strap is going to slide on the exact same way. Once again, we just need to be sure that it's loosened up, and then we can slide it over. We can meet it right up against or right next to our bracket. I'm just going to center it up with my vehicle and tighten them down with the included tool. Our tool does have a security feature where our screws cannot be removed with any other tool.
We don't need to overtighten these. Just tighten them down where the lock nut is flat. If you like, you can pick up a second one for the front, just like you see here, or you could just use your favorite set of straps. Now let's go ahead and slide your ladder on. With our ladder in position, let's go ahead and grab our hook. You need to make sure that it's loosened up from the buckle. That way we can go over our step, and then we're going to hook it into the bracket. Then we can grab the other portion of our strap and pull it nice and tight. Then I can just kind of bundle up my excess here, and we can repeat the same process for the rear. With both of our straps in place, we're ready to hit the road. That's going to complete our look at the Rhino-Rack Cam-Lock Ladder Strap with Snap Shackle, part number SLS5.
