Video Transcript for Let’s Check Out the Rhino-Rack Fairing for Roof Racks

Today we'll be taking a look at the 44 inch long Rhino-Rack fairing, part number RRRF3. There's also multiple different sizes, starting with the 32-inch part number RRRF1, the 38-inch RRF2, and the 50-inch, RRRF4.Speaker 2: This fairing is going to help by deflecting the air around the vehicle, so it makes for a quieter ride when you're out on the road. This stylish design is going to help to enhance the look of the roof of your vehicle, as well as your roof rack. And when you get your fairing in your box and you pull it out, you're going to have this protective film that's going to be over the top, and you can pull this off if you so choose, or you can leave it on to protect against any kind of bugs or dings or dents on your fairing. And with the wind hitting this, you're going to see that it can bounce off the top of the vehicle, so there's going to be rubber bumpers here on the bottom to help protect the vehicle's finish. And all your tools and accessories for this that you're going to need, including your bolts, washers, clips, brackets, all that stuff will be included, including your Allen tool to fasten them and tighten them down. The Rhino-Rack fairing offers a limited lifetime warranty through the manufacturer. Now that we've gone over some features, let's show you how easy it is to install.

Just make sure that you have your back bolts undone, so the plates will slide out of the way like they have. Set it over the top of your cross-bar and then you can rotate them so they fit nice and flush. Now, this fairing will work with your round, square, elliptical, even arrow type crossbars, and some factory crossbars as well. You just need to make sure that your crossbar has a width of at least 35 1/2 inches. As you can see, these are going to be nice and contoured to the Rhino-Rack roof rack system, meeting up with all the grooves and keeping it nice and aerodynamic. Rotate the bottom around so that the hole lines up with the other hole.

Then, take your bolt, your Allen bolt with the washer, place it in the top, and start threading it in. Use your included Allen tool to tighten them down, and we'll repeat this on the other three. And as you can see when we tighten down the front ones, it's going to pull and adjust pressure to push down on the front by tightening up that back racket. You can see it coming back down it, and you just want to be careful not over-tighten these because the plastic can break. Keep in mind for all your different lengths, all the hardware and features will be the same, and that completes the look at our Rhino-Rack fairings.

$[XX] worth of plastic for $[XX] is just a bad joke. The plastic deflector is less than 1/8" thick and flaps like a flag in a hurricane. The mounting brackets don't even tighten enough to lock it into place. Rhino Rack was premium gear, now its just low-rent grifter garbage. I want my $$$ back. No other choice than to fab my own fairing now from aluminum sheet. Truly disappointing!

by:

Very easy. I didn't have a Rhno bar up front but thy still worked. Start the screw in the back first and then pinch the front together to get that screw started. Lay the wing in the front and you can align the clamps pretty close where they need to be.

by:

Does the job. It got rid of the howling from the roof rack that was hurting my ears. There's still some wind noise from the fairing, but it's not annoying.

by:

I love this product!!..Fits prefect and looks great, also I would like to thank etrailer for there great customer service and fast shipping. I would definitely shop at etrailer again!!

by:

Great quality item, etrailer is a great online store. Fast shipping and easy to order. Highly recommended

by:

Ok: the bad first. The instructions are rather limited and don’t tell you how to set the fairing up (supposed to have it setting on the roof). And the fairing brackets are plastic, which is concerning when tightening them down. If not adjusted properly, the fairing rattles against the roof (rather annoying). Even when adjusted properly, cross winds will make the same thing happen.

The good: it totally stops any wind noise from the Rhino Rack cross bars I have on my truck. However, see the comment above about adjustments. It looks good on my truck and is easy to install and adjust, although the brackets are plastic. When I throw a basket on the rack, the fairing works by pushing the wind over the basket, eliminating bug impacts on my gear. I’d buy it again, but would suggest to Rhino Rack to improve upon the brackets. Maybe provide specific brackets for the different type of bars instead of trying the universal ones they include.

by:

It was very simple to add it to the Rhino cross bars. Only have a few minor issues with it. One is that the rubber stoppers that attach to the bottom side of the faring that are supposed to rest on the vehicle roof don’t help very much on a vehicle roof that isn’t smooth. They only rest on two out of the for brackets across the rest of the roof the fairing hits to roof of my truck directly. The other issue I have is when I install my Rhino kayak rack it hits the fairing the bracket that attaches to the crossbar hit the top of the fairing.

by:

Looks great; only complaint is the material between the brackets flexes as you drive. This results in the fairing buffeting against the roof of your vehicle as you drive and “rattling”. I fixed this issue by putting some small fabric dots (the kind you put on cabinets) on the edges between the fairing and the roof. Problem solved.

by:

Don't get this for the 49" crossbars unless you're willing to do a little custom fabrication (or use a few zip ties) to hold in the outer mounting points. The legs will get in the way of attaching it. That being said, I got it on and I assume its helping the aerodynamics.

by:

Appears well made. Installation was pretty simple. Vibrates on the roof of my truck. Considering removing and returning product due to the vibrating. Honestly the vibrating is more annoying than the whistling that the bars make.

by:

With the help of an etrailer customer service person, I took the measurements she needed to determine the right size fairing for my Rhino Aero cross bars. The shipment arrived promptly, but it does not fit. I am already very unhappy with the Rhino cross bars as though mounted properly, the noise is deafening. Now I have to return the fairing. I’m not happy. This is the second time etrailer botched an order.I guess I will just remove the Rhino cross bars and find a local vendor.

I would not want to deal with wind noise either. Typically if you have 54 inch long cross bars then this fairing would work for you. I will have our Customer Service team contact you.

  • Is it Possible to Have a Single Crossbar on my Camper with Tracks and a Crossbar Mounted on My Cab?
For having one 65-inch Rhino-Rack heavy Duty Crossbar on your camper shell's factory tracks and having one mounted on the cab of your 2018 Ford F-150, you need the following parts: For the single HD crossbar on the shell: - 65" Rhino-Rack Heavy-Duty Roof Rack Crossbars part # RB1650B-2 - Rhino-Rack Quick Mount Legs for Vortex Aero Crossbars - RTC and RT Roof Rack Tracks - Qty 2 # RRRLT600H - Roof Rack Leg Spacer Blocks for Rhino-Rack Heavy-Duty Crossbars part # RRQMHD05 For the single...

  • Can a Fairing be Added to Thule AeroBlade Roof Rack Crossbars
Thule only claims that the AeroBlade crossbars are quieter than other bars, which is true, but no roof rack will be silent, especially round and square bars. Just be glad that you didn't hear any flugelhorns! You can add a fairing, just not a Thule one. The Rhino-Rack fairings will fit on crossbars up to 1-1/4 inches tall and up to 3-1/2 inches wide. The Thule AeroBlade bars are slightly smaller than this so the Rhino-Rack fairings will work. The Rhino-Rack fairings are available in 4...

The Rhino-Rack 50 Inch Long Fairing # RRRF4 referenced in your question should work nicely with the 54 inch Rhino Rack Square Crossbars on your 2008 Chevy Silverado. The overall length of the mounting clips, from outside to outside, is right at 43 inches with this model fairing. This is pretty close to the 43-1/4 inch measurement you took between the crossbar supports on your Silverado's roof, so you may just want to verify that this is correct. • How to Determine Which Wind Fairing to Get for a 50" Roof Rack
More than likely you are not going to want a 50" long wind fairing. Odds are that the 50" crossbars you got will overhang the feet slightly and you want the wind fairing to fit in between the mounting feet. The best way to determine what wind fairing you will need is to measure the distance between the feet of the roof rack and get the wind fairing that is closest to that measurement. The most likely option would be the Inno Fairing for Roof Racks # INA262 which is 48". There is also the...
