Mileage Gains with Superchips Flashpaq Performance Tuner in 2003 Ford Expedition 5.4

Question:

What kind of improvement to fuel economy should I expect? My 1st priority is fuel economy. My 2nd would be about eight weekends a year when Im pulling a 4,600 lbs travel trailer. My final would be the elevation and passes I travel across western Montana. I understand there are multiple settings. My biggest question is about improving fuel economy. Will this pay for itself on a stock 5.4 ? Or do I need cold air induction / throttle body spacer to get a return on this investment? Thanks!

Mileage gains from using a performance tuner like the Superchips Flashpaq # SU1845 in your 2003 Ford Expedition with 5.4-liter engine can range from 10-15% according to my contact at Superchips. This is a best-case scenario. Do please note that there are a number of factors affecting fuel economy, from the condition and type of tires to the overall condition of the engine, so Superchips cannot guarantee these specific results.

My technical contact there advised that many customers have reported better fuel economy results using the performance setting (with the appropriate fuel grade) than the actual economy tune. For towing purposes you will certainly want to use the tow/performance setting. The tuner does not have provision to directly compensate for varying oxygen levels at higher altitudes, but your vehicle's sensors will.
