Question:

I had a a jeep wrangler JKU that I was flat towing using a RoadMaster Falcon 2 tow bar rated to 6,000LBS. I just traded it in on a Bronco Badlands and the GVWR on that truck is 6200LBS. Should I move up to a heavier tow bar or will this one work?

Hey Randy, congrats on the new Bronco. You're definitely going to need to jump up to a heavy rated tow bar. Like you said the Roadmaster Falcon 2 item # RM-520 tops out at 6,000 lbs and your Bronco's already over that sitting there empty.

I recommend the Roadmaster Falcon 3HD Tow Bar item # RM27NQ. It's got the same style fittings but boasts a larger 10,000 lbs capacity. It's been upgraded with stainless steel inner arms and the new non-binding Freedom Latch locking mechanisms will last longer and are quite a bit easier to use.

If your safety cables are also only rated for 6,000 lbs, you'll need to upgrade them to the 8,000 lbs Roadmaster 64" Single Hook, Straight Safety Cables item # RM-645.

Not sure what parts you kept off of your previous Jeep flat tow set up but here are the rest of the parts you'll need for your 2025 Ford Bronco Badlands:

Base Plate Kit - Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms item # RM92ZR or the 1" Thick Adapter for D-Ring Bumper Mounts item # RM-035-1.

Wiring Harness - Roadmaster Smart Diode Kit for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights item # RO44FR or item # RO94FR for Incandescent Tail Lights. We also have the full kits like you bought awhile ago if you need the umbilical and connectors. They're item # RM38FR for LED and item # RM26FR for incandescent.

Supplemental Braking System - If you held onto the Blue Ox Patriot item # BLU37TR, you'll need the Second Vehicle Breakaway Kit for Blue Ox Patriot Flat Tow Brake Systems item # BRK2505.

I towed a Silverado 2500 HD with my Falcon 2 because that’s what I had used before when I had a Wrangler. I don’t recommend towing that heavy of a truck. To be safe you should consider the Falcon 3 . Just my suggestion .
