Can Step Be Added to Lippert Solid Step

I have the Lippert Solid Step entry steps on my RV. It is the version with 3 steps on it. Even on level ground, the bottom step is at an uncomfortable height for my wife. I would like to add a 4th step at the bottom. I reached out to Lippert and have been waiting 2 weeks on a response. I have access to a machine shop if I need to make any major modifications. I asked about purchasing an additional step so it would match the other 3. I also asked if the 4 step version on the Safe Step is a direct replacement same bolt holes as the 3 step version. Any help you could offer would be appreciated.

Hey Ron! Sorry Lippert didn't get back to you yet, they can be pretty hit or miss on responses. Did you email them? I usually try to use their chat but even that is pretty dependent on who you actually get ahold of. As far as adding a step goes, I don't know of a good way you could accomplish that even with modifications. The only way I can think of to "add" a step is to use a foldable step like the # S-150 and sit it at the bottom.
Outside of that the best option would be to replace it with the 4 step version which will bolt up in the same spot. However, the right part depends on what you have now. If you have 20" wide x 8-1/2" deep wide steps you need the # LC791574. If they measure 24" wide x 8-1/2" deep the correct replacement is the # LC791575. Keep in mind, these are designed for an entry height of 35" - 44" so if yours is shorter it may not sit quite right even with the feet fully collapsed.

Hey Ron, did you have a chance to try the foldable step or consider replacing the steps with the 4-step version? I'm curious to know if either option worked for you, as it could help others facing the same issue.
