Can Saris Bones EX Bike Rack be Used for an e-Bike on a 2025 Honda HR-V

Question:

I just bought a new Honda HRV 2025 and am hoping to get a trunk rack for my new ebike. Its an Actbest simple ebike - weight 35 lbs. I am hoping to use a trunk rack and noticed that this rack holds three bikes at 35 lbs each. Will this work for an ebike or is a hitch option my only option? Hey Kelly, thanks for reaching out!

Your 35 lb e-Bike is a bit rare (they usually weigh much more than that!) but since it's within the 35 lb rating of the Saris Bones EX 3 Bike Rack # SA803 you can definitely use it on your 2025 Honda HR-V.

Just a few tips on the install; if you don't have a nice wide opening in the body of the bike to fit the arms of the rack through then you'll want to pick up the Adapter Bar # SAR65MR to fit between the handlebars and seat post for fitment, and then you'll place the lower feet of the rack into the license plate well and fit the upper straps over the leg when putting the rack on your vehicle.

Trunk racks definitely have their place because you don't have to buy and install a hitch, and they usually are cheaper than hitch mount racks. With that being said, if you plan on using the rack a LOT then I highly recommend installing a hitch and going that route - especially if you want easy access to the back cargo area on your HR-V (since the rack needs to be removed to open up the hatch).

I've installed both trunk and hitch racks, and the hitch racks are by far the easier ones to install and use. Let me know if you want to go with the hitch style and I'll be happy to make some recommendations for you. Otherwise, enjoy the Saris rack!
