Trailer Hitch and Wiring for 2018 Audi SQ5

Updated 05/02/2025 | Published 05/01/2025

Question:

Hello, I have a 2018 Audi SQ5 and would like to purchase the tow hitch package. I need all of the wiring as well for the brake lights. Can you also explain the difference between the different stage hitches and what the differences are? I need every component to install it and plug and play.

Thanks for reaching out! I have two options for a trailer hitch for your 2018 Audi SQ5. The first is the etrailer # e94CR. This Class III hitch has a 2" receiver and a bolt-on installation. It has a concealed cross tube, so only the receiver will be visible at the rear as seen in the attached photo.

The wiring for a setup with this hitch won't be plug and play (since nobody makes one for the SQ5) but you can use the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness # 119250KIT. This clamps onto your vehicle wiring instead of splicing and will provide you with a 4-way to power your trailer's signal lights. For a ball mount, check out the etrailer # e66PR. This is adjustable so you can have a nice, level setup no matter what you're towing.

The other option is the Stealth Hitches Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver w/ Towing Kit # 391AUDQ518T. If you prefer a hitch with a removable receiver this is the better choice. When you uninstall the receiver/ball mount this has a completely hidden design.

The Stealth Hitch is Class IV since it has a higher capacity but, both hitches exceed the vehicle towing capacity so there is really nothing to gain from it. This comes with everything you need, including wiring, for a complete installation. The wiring harness is universal so it will require splicing. If you need anything else don't hesitate to reply below.
