Hi Mary! You will need a hitch, wiring, and ball mount to tow a U-Haul trailer with your 2011 Buick LaCrosse CXL. I recommend the following:

-Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12115

-Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 56098

-etrailer Ball Mount w/ Pre-Torqued 2" Ball # e47DR

The Curt Hitch is a Class II hitch with a bolt-on installation and a 1-1/4" receiver. Even though it has a max gross towing weight of 3,500 lbs you will likely be limited by the towing capacity of your LaCrosse. Make sure to check your owner's manual to see what it is capable of.

The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness plugs into the connection points behind your tail lights and will provide you with a 4-way to power the trailer's lights. The ball mount has a 2" ball to go with the standard 2" U-Haul coupler. You won't need anything to power the brakes on the trailer since U-Haul trailers use surge brakes. If you need anything else don't hesitate to reach out in the comments below.
