Are The Removable Arms On The Roadmaster 1444-3 Base Plate Dimensionally The Same?

Updated 04/03/2025 | Published 03/30/2025

Question:

Roadmasters P/N 1444-3 has two removable arms. C-001476, C-001477. Can these be used inchangebly by flipping them over? Are the physical dimensions all the same?

Hell Jeffrey, thanks for reaching out. Interesting question too. While the arms on the Roadmaster Base Plate # 1444-3 are dimensionally the same, there is a specific RH and LH arm for this base plate. So you would not want to interchange them.

@Jeffrey each arm has a metal piece welded on the inside of the arm. You want that piece facing in. Then there is another metal piece welded to the "clevis" part and that should be positioned above the pin hole. Kind of hard to describe but this is how Roadmaster shows it in all their diagrams and all the pictures in their instructions. Take a look at the picture I included above. It shows the correct orientation. Figure P in the instructions (link below) also shows it. Technically you might be able to swap them but I would have to recommend doing it exactly how Roadmaster shows it. https://www.roadmasterinc.com/content/pdfinst/1444-3.pdf

@JesseM I understand where the metal tabs are located etc. but by just flipping them over they are the same dimensionally and appear to be interchangeable.

@Jeffrey Yes technically the receiver size is the same on both sides so if you really want to swap them there is nothing stopping you. I would still have to recommend installing them per the instructions.
