Best Furrion AC Unit To Replace Carrier Air V
Updated 10/27/2025 | Published 03/05/2025 >
Question:
I am trying to find the best replacement for my Carrier Air V and have read many articles on your site. From my research, I have decided I want a Furrion, but I am confused by all the different models presented. I want the easiest direct replacement. I would rather avoid having to run the thermostat physical wire, as it appears I might have to do. It found the FR55PV FR65PV FR92PR AND FR58PR, that you all say will replace my system. I am confused by the different models and cost differences but even more confused that you recommend an Advent wiring adapter for the Furrion unit... My Carrier is the Model: 68RV14113A Part: 99-00468-33. The system is ducted and the unit controls my furnace, which I certainly need the replacement unit to do as well... Any direction would be greatly appreciated, Florida is warming up by the day!! Thanks, Robbie

Hello Robbie, thanks for reaching out. What I recommend for replacing your Carrier Air V AC unit is the Furrion Chill Cube # FR99TD. This is essentially a full AC system so you get your rooftop AC unit, controller, distribution box and thermostat. This will be compatible with your ducted system. These Chill Cube units are new to the market and they are without a doubt the best AC unit available. They have an 18K BTU rating which is higher than any other AC on the market. This will mean colder air to help you survive those Florida summers.
Another cool (pun intended) thing about these Chill Cube Units is the have a variable speed compressor and multi stage startup. This means you do not get those huge power surges on startup. The startup amperage is only like 4 amps and it generally pulls about 12 amps when running. This is a significant decrease from any other RV AC unit. So you are going to get colder air, with less power consumption. An upgrade I think you will definitely be happy with.
We offer several different Furrion AC packages that come with different parts. There are 15K and 13.5K BTU AC units, as well as manual distribution boxes or thermostats. The package I recommended for you comes with a wall thermostat.

Hey Robbie, how did the Furrion Chill Cube work out as a replacement for your Carrier Air V? It sounds like the higher BTU rating and lower power draw could make a big difference in that Florida heat. Your update could make it easier for others looking to upgrade their ducted systems too.
