Recommended Gooseneck Hitch Ball That Attaches to 5th Wheel Rails

Updated 11/08/2024 | Published 11/07/2024

Question:

Good afternoon, I have a 2017 Ford F250. There was a BandW fifth wheel hitch installed in the truck. I sold the patriot hitch, but kept the rails installed in the bed. Is there a hitch that pins into the rails that would have a gooseneck ball?

Hey Nathan! There is definitely a gooseneck ball that will attach to the 5th wheel rails in the bed of your F-250. We actually have two different options which I have listed below:

The Curt Spyder Gooseneck Trailer Hitch item # 16085 has a 25,000 lbs capacity and installs just like your old Patriot hitch using four pins. The 2-5/16" gooseneck ball will sit right in the middle of the rails.

The Curt Above-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch item # 16055 installs in an identical way and has the same capacity. The difference being is that the 2-5/16" gooseneck ball is pushed back towards your F-250's bed 3". I recommend getting this one if your truck has the shorter bed length.

I have linked an interesting review video we made in the shop below. It shows these parts being compared and installed.

To make towing with a gooseneck trailer easier, I recommend adding the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness item # C57008. This harness puts a 7-way connector in the bed of your truck and allows you to keep the one on your bumper. This makes hooking up to your 5th wheel trailer easier and more convenient.
