Transfer Switch to Bypass Inverter Wiring for When Not Using RV Battery for Power

Question:
Currently I have a 3000 watt inverter charger. The shore power is wired directly to the inverter that feeds the RV. The inverter must be on for the RV to have shore power. This means the inverter is always running, unless I can run on the batteries. I would like to bypass the inverter except when I dont have shore power or need to change the batteries. Most of the time the solar panels keep the batteries charged. I have a 30 amp system.

Hey Walt, so an inverter is designed to take DC power and convert it to AC which is what shore power has. If you have something that is taking shore power and converting it to DC for a battery that would be a converter.
If instead you are referring to your battery being what supplies your AC accessories power via the inverter then I get what you mean. In order for your accessories to be powered directly by the battery without the inverter you would need 12 volt accessories.
To make it so that you have a second AC power source you'd need to have a transfer switch like the part # F30ATS that you referenced which you'd need to route your AC power wiring to and then a second 30 amp inlet to mount on outside of the RV like # F30ITSBS for when you want to run shore power direct without using any of the inverter routing.

Hey Walt, how did things go with adding the transfer switch and second 30‑amp inlet to your RV setup? It’d be great to hear if that solved the issue with the inverter always running. Your update could make it easier for others working on a similar power setup.
