Can I Replace My GE AC Unit With A Furrion AC

Updated 07/25/2025 | Published 05/09/2024

Question:

Do you sell a 13,500 btu Furrion AC conversion unit that will replace a GE air conditioning unit on a 2021 grand design imagine 22 MLE. ? I’m on my 2nd GE unit because they keep leaking refrigerant. I’d like to put a furrion in without any wiring issues. Thanks

Hello Rich. It is possible to replace your GE air conditioner with a Furrion AC unit. In order to do this, you will need get a whole new AC unit system since there aren't any adapter kits that allow you to simply plug and play the installation. So, you will be getting a new AC unit, controller, distribution box and thermostat. I recommend the Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System # FR95PV, which will come with everything you need. This should be a nice upgrade from your GE unit. The Furrion units are efficient, durable and quiet.

This is not accurate information. I just purchased a Furrion 15.5k top unit and plugged it directly into the GE Control box. After reviewing the wiring diagrams for both units, I realized that they used the same plug and wiring pattern. It should also be noted that the GE thermostat works just as it should with the unit. I learned this after losing refrigerant in 2 GE units in 2 years… they are the absolute worst!!

@Brian Hmm good to know. Perhaps we will have to try that out next time we see that setup here at our shop. Please understand as an authorized dealer that does paid installs we typically don't experiment with AC systems like that. We have to stick with what the manufacturer says regarding that. Thanks again for sharing though!

@Brian I hope you see this... I have a 15K btu GE unit on my ducted 2870 Passport that I would LOVE to replace with the Furrion. Can you advise if your RV was ducted or not, and possibly which GE unit you replaced?.. GE has been horrible for us!.. Thank you!

@Jimmy we had the ARC15AAC top unit. It is ducted, but that’s irrelevant to the control box. We purchased the Furrion 15.5k and left all other parts GE (control box and thermostat). I just had to adjust the control box for the cord to go into the right side. I used tin snips to open the box up. Otherwise, it plugs right up and works great!!!
