Question:
I have a Malone Ecolight single kayak trailer, with bunks. It has 8 inch wheels and I would like to upgrade to 12 inch wheels. The original 8 inch are fine for 5-6 mile trips to river but I’m not comfortable pulling it on trips more than 10 miles. Do you sell a kit for this? Thanks

Hey Coy,
You can replace the 8" wheels on your Malone EcoLight Sport Trailer # MAL73FR with ones like the Kenda 4.80-12 Bias Trailer Tire # AM30590. Before doing so you'll want to measure the distance between the tire and fender as well as the tire to the frame. The # AM30590 are roughly 5" larger in diameter so if you split that in half you'll be losing 2.5" of clearance between the tire and fender. You'll want at least 3" of clearance to the fender and 1" to the frame. If you have less than 3" of clearance you'll likely need to remove the fenders and mount them higher up.
