How to Find Correct Replacement Braking Assemblies for a 1989 EZ Loader Trailer

Updated 05/06/2025 | Published 07/11/2023

Question:

I have a 1989 ez loader trailer. The brake caliper pn 11046 is no longer being made. Can you recommend a caliper rebuild kit and brake pads? Thank you. I found this item but not sure if it would work with my caliper to rebuild Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper Rebuild Kit for 7,000 lb to 8,000-lb Trailer Brakes - KDBC250KIT

The part number supplied looks like it's coming back to the Raybestos FRC11046 brake calipers which as you are aware are not available anymore. That being said, we don't have any replacement parts for these braking assembles as we've never carried their parts.

It's typically much more cost effective to just replace the entire assembly, which is what I recommend doing. In order to find the correct braking assemblies, I am going to need a bit more information about what you're working with. The easiest way to find this info is for you to crawl under your trailer and look for an axle tag. This tag should have the axle capacity listed.

With that information we'll be able to pick out a set of replacement brakes for you.

Bryce, Axel tag below has 4300 load capacity 1989 ezloader. Can I email you the tag?

@Jamel Hey Jamel, I don't really need the tag. For a 4,300 lb axle, you can use the Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper Rebuild Kit for 3,500 lb to 6,000 lb Trailer Brakes # KDBC225KIT which will work with 3,500 lbs to 6,000 lb trailer brakes so it'll work great with your current axles.

@BryceD Thank you. What type of master cylinder and rotor would you recommend?
