Why Are My Calipers Dragging On My Load Rite Trailer?
Updated 06/08/2022 | Published 06/06/2022 >
Question:
I have a 23 boat on a 1 year old Load Rite trailer with surge disk brakes. One of the calipers keeps dragging. I can take it apart and compress it with a C clamp and it will make it to the Marina and back one time before it drags again and causing the hub to get scorching hot. What would cause this?

If your brake calipers are dragging, this is indicating that your caliper is not properly aligned with the rotor. This is caused by a bent caliper mounting bracket, or some warped rotors and pads.
To fix this, you'll need to inspect the alignment between the rotor and the pad, and if it turns out to be a bent bracket simply replace as necessary.
If you're able to send me the specific brake kit you have or some pictures of your brakes, I would be happy to see if we have some replacement parts for you.
I have also attached a link to all of our brake calipers as well.
