Question:

Hi etrailer, I've got a 2021 4Runner with factory cross bars. Looking for an awning with easy on easy off camp mounts similar to those that come with the slimshady by yakima. Need to be able to easily remove as my garage height isn't sufficient. Also, Id like to avoid metal brackets when mounting to the cross bars. Unfortunately, the slimshady doesn't seem to allow for any additional panels or mosquito netting like the other brands offer. Any chance you have an awning that will satisfy both? Alternatively, any chance I could use the yakima camp mounts with a different brand awning?

For an awning that has options of side panels, I recommend the Thule HideAway Awning, # TH490008. With this option you can add the Sun Blocker G2 Side Panel for Thule 8-1/2' HideAway Awning, # TH307399 or the Rain Blocker, # TH307400. Or even the Medium QuickFit Tent for Thule HideAway Awnings - 8-1/2' Long
Item # TH307056.

For factory rails on your 2021 Toyota 4Runner, you will need the Roof Rack Adapters for Thule HideAway Awnings, # TH490001. This will not be as easy of an on/off attachment as the Yakima SlimShady Awning with clamp on mounting, # Y96VR. But, as you have identified, the Yakima SlimShady Awning does not have the add-on options.

Any use of the Clamp Assembly for Yakima SlimShady Roll-Out Awning, # 8880737 and Mounting Bracket for Yakima SlimShady Roll-Out Awning, # 8880736 on another product would be a custom fabrication and we cannot guarantee that it will function.
