Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors Keep Falling Off Trailer at Highway Speed

Question:

How can I keep the Bearing Buddies on? I have purchased three sets and the drivers side continues to come off. I thought it might be the hubs so I put complete new hubs on and still have the problem. Any suggestions?

First, make sure that you have the correct size Bearing Buddy. It should be slightly larger than the hub bore though it is difficult to tell just by looking. If you can tell me the outer bearing number I can determine which is the correct model.

Bearing Buddies and other similar products have to be installed just right. If they are off just a little, when the wheel spins the Bearing Buddy can kind of wobble and work itself loose. The do-it-yourself method is to get the Bearing Buddy started then place a block of wood across it and tap it in with a mallet. The wood distributes the force of the mallet more evenly than not using it.

If for some reason the hub or wheel wobbles, like a car tire that needs to be balanced and alined, that could be causing it to work its way off the hub. Have a shop that works on trailers check out that side to see if there is something amiss that can be repaired.

I have a 1999 Sonnybrook 5th Wheel Camper (34 Ft). Looks like the Cover or cap from all 4 tires have come off and is throwing grease. I am not sure what part i need or if you carry them. If needed i can send pictures
