CURT 59236 Multi-Function Taillight Converter Kit problems with 2009 Audi Q5
Published 09/03/2021 >
Question:
I had the Curt 59236 kit installed on my Audi Q5 and I have a new battery. The problem is that something in the installation is constantly discharging my battery and causing the left rear light error to show up on my dash. It has caused enough of a discharge that my car has a hard time starting. I have no clue where to start...please help.

Since the Curt # C59236 is a universal application, Curt doesn't have any vehicle specific information or advice to share, but I believe the warning error you're getting is almost certainly a good clue that the problem lies somewhere in the left turn/brake lamp circuit. I'd recommend checking the connection where the yellow wire from the converter box interfaces with the factory vehicle taillight wiring harness.
If you paid to have the Curt # C59236 installed, in my opinion whomever you paid to install it should be obligated to make this right for you.
