Question:
Hi, Ive got a 2018 durango srt and I need a hitch to pull my camper. The camper has a dry weight of 6500 and a max of 8000. I saw the class 3 hitches that have a max of 7500 with a weight distribution hitch which I have already setup for the camper. Im wondering if the class 3 will be enough of if you have a class 4? Thank you

At this time the highest rated trailer hitch receiver for your 2018 Dodge Durango SRT is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 75713 which has a 900lb tongue weight rating and 6000lb trailer weight rating. When using a weight distribution system the tongue weight rating stays at 900lbs but the trailer weight rating gets bumped up to 7500lbs. From what I can find it appears the 2018 Durango has a towing capacity of 6200-8700lbs depending on specific options, so I recommend contacting your local Dodge dealer with your VIN to confirm the towing capacity of your specific vehicle.
The # 75713 and all of the other trailer hitch receivers for your Durango are not compatible with a 20" spare tire, so if you have a 20" spare I recommend buying a compact spare from your local Dodge dealer.
Since you mentioned that your trailer has a GVWR of 8000lbs, you will not be able to tow the trailer if it is fully loaded. Your will need to weigh your trailer and keep the weight under the 7500lb maximum of the # 75713.
Since your trailer weighs over 3500lbs it should have trailer brakes, meaning you will need to add a 7-way connector to your Durango if it does not already have one. Assuming that your vehicle does not have the factory tow package you will need the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness w Brake Controller Adapter - 7 Way Trailer Connector # TK22113.
The # TK22113 will give you the connector needed to install a trailer brake controller, of which I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 as it is an extremely reliable trailer brake controller that has great features like an easy to read LCD screen, and built in diagnostics that are easy to read and understand.
I included videos for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
