Kayak Carrier for 2016 Honda CR-V with OEM Roof Rack Crossbars
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
Hi, I have two Honda CRV horizontal slats that are installed into my left side and right side roof runners going vertical from front to rear of car. It looks like your foam block can or is designed to fit over those two horizontal racks one per each horizontal rack. Am I correct? From there then, I am thinking I can mount my kayak on the top of the two foam blocks. Does this make sense? If so, are there other parts you recommend for me to tie it down? Thank you

You are correct. For your factory crossbars on the CR-V you can use foam blocks like the Malone Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs - Foam Block Style - 12" Long # MPG154 which will give you the components you need to secure the kayak as well.
For a better hold, I recommend using a J-style carrier with your factory bars like the Swagman Contour Rooftop Kayak Carrier System with Tie-Downs - Fixed Arms - J-Style - Universal Mount # S65148. This is much better if you will be doing highway driving with your kayak simply because it adds more structure for holding both the crossbars and the kayak.
You can add the Malone QuickLash T-Style Hood Loops for Bow and Stern Tie-Downs - Qty 2 # MPG308 for easy connection points.

Jason, should I just buy nylon rope for From a hardware store as my tie downs to the part MPG308 that you recommended? Definitely appreciate the advice on getting the S65148 instead of the foam. Mark
