Expert Reply:

Your current 8.75-16.5 tires have an overall diameter of 30.5" and an overall width of 8.75". The closest trailer tire size available to that is 235/80-16 which has an overall diameter of 30.9" and an overall width of about 9.25". So height-wise the tires will be very similar and even though the width is an extra 0.5" it's important to note that as far as clearance goes you're only adding 0.25".

For a 235/80-16 trailer tire I highly recommend the Taskmaster Provider trailer tire # TTWTRTM2358016E which has a load range E (Single tire: 3,520 lbs at 80 psi - Dual tires: 3,080 lbs at 80 psi) and a max speed rating of 81 mph. The weight ratings should be noticeably larger than your current tires so you just need to make sure you aren't exceeding the weight rating of your least rated component.

You could pair this tire with the Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel - 16" x 6" Rim - 6 on 5-1/2 - White Powder Coat
Item # AM20741 if your bolt pattern is 6 on 5-1/2"

or

If your bolt pattern is 8 on 6-1/2" you could pair this tire with Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel - 16" x 6" Rim - 8 on 6-1/2 - White Powder Coat Item # AM20750 .
