Which Progressive Dynamics Converter to Replace 60 Amp Charger for Lithium Batteries

In a response to another customer, Jason S. wrote: The Progressive Dynamics PD9100 Series Inteli-Power Converter - Lithium - 12 Volts - 60 Amps # PD9160ALV will allow up to 60 amps power draw. It sounds like you are able to pull more, so I recommend upgrading to the 80 amp # PD9180ALV. This will charge your batteries in about 2 hours give or take. I am upgrading to 2 X 12V 100AH lithium batteries, as that customer was. The current converter in my 2008 Bounder 65 amp WFCO WF-9865 its the factory converter. I would like to use the 80A PD converter, but I dont know what gauge the wires are from the converter to the batteries, and its a fairly long run the converter is on the road side of the motorhome, at the back of the bedroom, while the batteries are under the steps on the curb side. However, I could go with the 80A converter if the same wire gauge is permissible for the 80A load. Do you know if this would work? If not, Ill just order the 60A converter. Thanks!

For charging a lithium battery like what you have a 60 amp charge is quite a bit of amperage. While a higher amp charge might charge the battery faster a slower charge at 60 amps will still be very fast and honestly a better amperage to put a healthier charge that will last longer. Quick charges don't tend to stick with the battery as long as slower ones. Since we don't know what gauge wire you have as well the 60 amp setup # PD9160ALV would be a much better option.
