Question:
Recommended Weight Distribution/Sway Control for Forest River R-Pod 179 Hood River Edition. Hello My TV is a 2006 Honda Ridgeline and i have the above camper 2018. Would you still recommend this Reese Strait-Line # RP66083 WD bar? Thank you

Expert Reply:
The Strait-Line Weight Distribution System with Sway Control # RP66083 you referenced is absolutely the best option for your 2018 Forest River R-Pod 179 Hood River Edition because it will give you the best sway control with its dual cam system that stops sway immediately so you never have to worry about struggling to control your 2006 Honda Ridgeline when towing your R-Pod. This is going to make the journey to your destination a pleasant experience so you won't have those white knuckle moments when passing a semi or encountering high winds.
The Reese Strait-Line # RP66083 has a total tongue weight (TTW) capacity of between 400 lbs and 800 lbs, and when I took a look at the specs of your 2018 Forest River R-Pod 179 Hood River Edition I found it has a GVWR of 3,792 lbs. This is important because tongue weight is typically between 10% and 15% of your trailer's GVWR, and you need to add on any weight behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle to get your TTW. The ideal weight distribution system would be one in which your TTW falls somewhere in the middle of the weight distribution system's total tongue weight capacity, which the Strait-Line does.
The Strait-Line comes with everything you need for installation, and the only other thing required to use it is the right hitch ball, which is the 2" Hitch Ball # A-90 for your R-Pod which according to my research has a coupler which accepts a 2" ball.
I have added a link to a video review of the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System with Sway Control # RP66083 for you to take a look at as well.
