Replacement Trailer Landing Gear Motor for Ragen Toy Hauler
Question:
I have a 2006 Ragen toy hauler and the landing gear just clicks when trying to raise the trailer. The gear goes up and down easily with no load on it. I have to use the hand crank to assist the motor to lift the rig up. Is it the motor or the gear? The motor is a Venture M-9000-PK and the replacement is the Lippert LC142178. Is there a stronger motor to replace mine if in fact the motor needs to be replaced? Thanks

Since the gears work easily when not under load and you are able to manually assist the motor when under load, the gears are not the issue. It sounds like the clicking is a relay that is tripping and resetting so it sounds like either the wiring or the motor is the issue. To bypass the current wiring, you can run a jump wire from the battery to the motor and then from the motor to the frame. This will show you if the motor is bad or if you have a different issue with the wiring or switch.
There isn't a higher torque rated motor than the Lippert Components Venture 5th Wheel RV Landing Gear Motor # LC142178 but the Replacement Motor for Stromberg Carlson Electric Landing Gear - 5,500 lbs # LG-142178 is made by the same company under a different name at a better price point, so that is my recommendation. If you also want the switch, then use # LG-217884.
