Question:
I have a 2006 Chevy K3500 diesel dually with a Hillsboro aluminum flatbed, but the fixed recessed gooseneck ball on the flatbed wont accept any fifth wheel hitch that I know of. My new-to-me RV is a 36-foot Teton Experience Liberty with Trailair pin box. It grosses out at 20,000#. Will I have to convert from the existing gooseneck ball with a conversion kit such as the one from BandW and get their flatbed fifth-wheel hitch, or is there some other less expensive way to install a fifth-wheel hitch so I can haul my RV? I am aware of the Andersen Ultimate ball hitch, but would prefer a fifth-wheel hitch.

The best option for you to haul both gooseneck and 5th wheel trailers with your 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 is to replace the gooseneck trailer hitch you have for the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch part # BWGNRK1500 and then use the B&W Companion Flatbed Adapter part # BWRVK3050 when you need to tow your 5th wheel trailer. Please note that for the Gooseneck Trailer Hitch you will need to most likely weld a steel structure under the truck for support and in order to position the B&W Companion Flatbed Adapter accordingly on the flatbed.
The most cost effective option would be to use a 5th wheel to gooseneck adapter like the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter part # AM3100. However, a 5th wheel to gooseneck adapter can not be used with a Trailair Pin Box, only standard non cushioned pin boxes.
Therefore, it really just comes down to you wanting to modify the truck or trailer. If you want to modify the trailer then let me know what model number of pin box you have and I will make sure we get you one that will work with the above adapter.
