Will the Prodigy P2 Kill My Battery After Months of Sitting
Question:
How long should the two red light stay illuminated. My Ford F250 had a dead battery. We jumped it and drove it across town twice and the battery seems fine. The truck had set for at least 3 months. My concern is that the re dot lights took the battery down over time. Please advise. Thank you,

The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90885 will go into a sleep mode after 15 minutes of inactivity. However, the controller will never completely lose power unless disconnected, even while in sleep mode it will draw power. The power draw is minimal (milliamps) but still a draw on the vehicle's battery nonetheless. If after months of sitting it could very well drain the battery therefore, I recommend you disconnect the controller from the rear if the vehicle will be sitting for more than a few months. This will cause you to lose its setting but there aren't really any other options besides leaving a battery maintainer on the tow vehicle.
