Difference Between ST235/80R16 and ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tires
Question:
235/85r16 vs 235/80r16 - I dont want to know all the formulas. I want to know if the 80s will give me more clearance between the tire and the fender and if it affects load capacity. Thanks..

It sounds like you just want to know the difference in size and load ratings between ST235/80R16 and ST235/85R16 radial trailer tires.
When fully inflated a ST235/80R16 radial trailer tire like the Provider # TTWTRTM2358016E will measure 9.25" wide and have a diameter of 30.79". This tire also has a load rating of E and a capacity of 3,520 lbs at 80 psi.
A ST235/85R16 radial trailer tire will be both larger in width and diameter and have a bigger load capacity. When inflated this tire will measure 9.25" wide and have a diameter of 31.73" so there will be less clearance between the top of this tire and your fender.
In short, the larger ST235/85R16 tire will give you less clearance but have more capacity.
