Question:
Hi I have an travel trailer that is 6624 lbs dry and Gvwr is 9980. Tongue weight says it 656. This is from the factory specs. The weight Distribution hitch i have is the Fastway E2 8000 lb with 800 lb bars. I read the install guide and have the set up correct but I still get a good amount of sway. Im thinking that when its loaded my tongue weight is not enough or I have the wrong hitch. I bought a scale and the tongue was at 750 when half fuLL. I dont really have any way to store stuff in the front and I think the black tank is behind the axles of the trailer. So when empty on fresh which is in front of the axles I lose tongue weight. Any thoughts on how to resolve? Trailer. 2017 Evo T2700 Tow vehicle 2017 F150 with hd tow package. Thx for the help

It sounds like the Fastway e2 # FA94-00-0800 or # FA92-00-0800 is the correct system for your 1/2 full trailer but not for your loaded trailer. You want a system rated for total tongue weight which includes the tongue weight of your trailer and any cargo weight behind the rear axle of your F-150. That total tongue weight will ideally be in the middle of the range of your weight distribution system, so your Fastway e2 is not the correct system for your needs. For a 1000 lb e2 upgrade you can use the # FA92-01-1099 or for 1200 lbs use # FA92-01-1299. Using the correct spring bars will help you with sway as well because it will distribute more weight.
My recommendation if you want the best sway control is to upgrade your weight distribution system to the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w Sway Control - Trunnion Bar # RP66084. This system is rated for total tongue weights between 600 lbs and 1,200 lbs. The total tongue weight is the trailer tongue weight plus any cargo behind the rear axle of your truck.
This system will actively fight to prevent sway with its dual cam design and will keep your trailer in line with your truck whether the tank is full or empty. Having your black tank empty is ideal as you mentioned it is behind the rear axle of the trailer and weight behind that axle may cause sway. This system will be able to assist at combatting that sway, but it will still function better without that tank full.
The hitch ball from your current e2 will fit on the Reese Strait-Line System. Keep in mind if you load more to the rear, it could actually lighten your tongue weight, so you want to stay within the specified range.
