Question:
I have a 2012 mako 17cc skiff with a matching trailer made by rolco. It has the vault sealed hubs on it, one of which is leaking. I would like to know if I can replace it with a universal hub or something else, I would like to get something different I dont like these vault hubs. Thanks in advance for the info

It is possible to change out the oil-filled vault hubs on a trailer to conventional greased hubs so long as the set of bearings in both the original and replacement hubs is identical. A new hub must use the same inner and outer bearings in order for it to fit properly on the existing spindles. Spindles are intended for specific bearings and so the new hub has to use those same specific bearings.
Our main page for trailer hubs is linked for you. To narrow down the options shown to those that will fit your spindles you will want to first click on the hub bolt pattern, then the axle capacity, which can usually be found on the axle beam's identification sticker. After you click on the axle capacity click on the type of hub you need, either an idler hub like # 8-258-50UC1-EZ (no brakes) or a hub/drum like # 84546UC3-EZ.
Once you remove one of the original hubs and get the bearing numbers you can then match those up to the available products. The linked photo shows the usual appearance of bearing numbers.
Please feel free to tell me the inner bearing part number and the outer bearing part number and I will be glad to help you review the options that will fit on your trailer's spindles.
