Question:
I have a standard 5x8’ utility trailer from Tractor Supply that I want to use two carry my 2 kayaks. I know the Malone Top Tier carrier will work but I’m looking for a carrier that is not that high. The mpg475 looks like it might work but I don’t know how wide the support is. Will need to be at least 5’ wide to attach to the trailer bars which are L-shaped and about 2” wide.

The Malone Crossbar Conversion Kit for Standard Utility Trailer # MPG475 may work well on your utility trailer, but it is designed to attach to the frame and not the side rails, so you'd need to install through the floor mesh on your Tractor Supply 5x8 foot utility trailer.
To have a crossbar system that attaches to the raised side frame, I recommend the Malone TopTier Load Bar Kit for Utility Trailers - 250 lbs # MPG493 which is high as you mentioned but can have the supports cut down for customization. It will still give you the best support and custom height option.
Another option is the Swagman Roamer LT Roof Rack for Pop-Up Campers and Camper Shells - Steel # S80510. These crossbars will mount to your side rails and give you a 150 lb capacity.
With any of the crossbars, I recommend the Rhino Rack Kayak Carrier # S510 for each kayak. These lightweight carriers are just 13 lbs per set and will hold your kayak secure.
