Recommended Reese Sidewinder Compatible With Husky 16K 5th Wheel Hitch and 1621 Pin Box

Question:

I want to purchase a Reese Sidewinder combo kit for my fifth wheel trailer. I know that sidewinder is compatible with my lipp1621 however I need help knowing if the Reese sidewinder is compatible with by hitch. I have a husky 16k s roller/slider hitch. Can a Reese sidewinder work with this hitch as long as its left in the tow position at all times. I do understand I may need the custom wedge to go with it. Please advise and thank you for your time.

The Sidewinder pin box is compatible with your Husky 16K slider as long as you keep it locked in the forward position as you stated. You will want the Sidewinder 5th Wheel King Pin with Rotating Turret - 16,000 lbs # RP34FR for a standard Sidewinder to give you the 22 inches of additional turning clearance. Your other option is to upgrade that to the air ride version in the 5th Airborne Premium 5th Wheel Air Ride King Pin w/ Sidewinder and Turret - 16,000 lbs # RP61422 to reduce chucking by nearly 60 percent and vertical shock by 44 percent.

The custom wedge you are seeking is the 5th Airborne Custom Wedge for Husky / Valley Fifth Wheels # SWW-04 which is designed to work with Sidewinder and 5th Airborne Sidewinder applications. This will work with the Husky 16K slider with roller like # HT32220, but will not work with the Husky 16K slider with glider like # HT31196. If you have the glider, I recommend changing your base for the Replacement Base Legs for Husky Silver Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - 16,000 lbs # HT31314.
