Weight Distribution Recommendation for 2016 Jayco Jay Flight 34RSBS Travel Trailer
Question:
Hello, Looking to pick up a 2016 Jayco Jay Flight 34RSBS Travel Trailer. Jayco website has it listed as 8440 Unloaded vehicle. 1250 Dry Hitch weight. 10950 GVWR. Im thinking the real weights will be a smidgen higher than what the website lists. Tow Vehicle s a Ford 2008 F250 Super Duty, 4WD, 8bed, 5.7 gas. Id like the proper WDH w sway control. Good thing is we never travel with water, so the 80 gallon tanks are always empty while traveling. Im getting older so easier is best. Someone mentioned Blue Ox. What are your recommendations? Thank you

For a dry tongue weight of 1,250 lbs you'd want a higher rated weight distribution system like the Reese Titan part # RP66006 which has a tongue weight range of 1,000 lbs to 1,700 lbs. This system is about as easy to install and use as any of them are, but what will really make the install easier is a powered a-frame jack. Reason being when you install a WD system you have to hitch the trailer to the truck's hitch ball and then use the jack to raise the rear suspension of the truck slightly to make attaching the spring bars easier. A powered jack makes this MUCH easier.
My favorite powered jack to recommend is the Stromberg Carlson # SC63VR as it has a clutch that shuts off automatically before topping or bottoming out. Other jacks will allow you to go too far with the jack but in doing so you damage the threads of the screw.
It has a lifting capacity of 4,500 lbs which would be more than you'd need but will ensure that the jack will operate quickly and last a long time.
With the weight distribution system you'll need a ball mount like the # RP54998 if you have a 2 inch hitch. Then for a hitch ball part # 63840.
