Question:
I was wondering why you are advocating for 4Runner 2016 the Prodigy 2 or in one answer Prodigy 3 over Curt Triflex, which is much cheaper. Also I have the impression from fotos the latter is smaller, too. My 4Runner is a Sports Utility model.

We have the best luck with the Prodigy P3 # 90195 and P2 part # 90885. There isn't a controller out there more reliable and better performing that these. The Curt Triflex part # C24VV isn't a bad controller but it's just not quite the same. One aspect is the mounting flexibility is much more limited for the Curt.
The Prodigies allow for 360 degrees of mounting rotation as long as the controller faces the rear, but the Curt has a much smaller range. We find too that the Curt controllers tend to have a few more internal issues compared to the Prodigy. Basically we sell a ton of the Prodigies and not nearly as many Curt controllers yet we hear more about issues with Curt controllers than Prodigy.
For an install harness you then would want the part # 3041-P which plugs right into your 2016 Toyota 4Runner.
