How to Connect a Camper Shells Third Brake Light on a 2008 Chevy Silverado
Question:
I spliced onto the blue wire on my harness which I understood to be the brake light wire to hook up the hot on my camper shell light. It works but the light stays on even after the truck is off and all lights are off. Which wire is it? Thanks

The blue wire is generally the brake circuit but not the brake light circuit. You want to connect the light to the brake light circuit which green for the for the right-hand side and yellow for the left, but you'll want to use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 and test by function. These are also your turn signals for the respective sides.
In order to keep the brake light on the camper shell from flashing with the turn signals use # C56196 to separate the turn signals from the brake signal. On the input side you'll need to ground the white wire onto the truck, connect the green to the right brake and turn signal and yellow to the left. Then on the output side connect the red to the shell's light and just cap off the other two wires.
