Installing the Bulldog # BD500200 Electric Power Jack on a Heartlands Northtrail 28 foot Trailer
Question:
Youve been very helpful so far and heres a follow-up question. To allow the truck tailgate to down, I have 3.5 of clearance to the centerline of the electric jack post. On the back side, I have 4.5 of clearance to my propane tank cover. Ive measured the Atwood 3500# unit and it should fit. On the Bulldog 4000# unit, could I rotate the jack one set of holes 120 degrees so that the head sort of sits sideways but at a little angle-30 degrees I think it might fit my dimensional limits that way. The light wont be much use, but otherwise I think everything should be OK. From reading your other FAQ I believe that the triangular mounting hole pattern is symmetrical and rotatable.

Yes, you should be able to mount the jack in any position that the mounting holes will line up. The Bulldog Powered-Drive Trailer Jack - Drop Leg - A-Frame - 14" Lift - 4,000 lbs, item # BD500200, has mounting holes for either 2-1/2 inch mounting pattern or 3 inch mounting pattern. As you stated, the light will illuminate an area different than intended and the level will not be as usable since it will not be installed inline with the trailer frame or at a 90 degree angle to it. Otherwise the jack will function as it should for lifting and lowering the trailer tongue.
