Snow Tire Chain Recommendations for 2016 Subaru Outback w/ 225/60-18 Tires
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
I have a new 2016 Subaru Outback Limited with 225 x 60 x R18 Bridgestone Duelers HP Sport tires. I believe Subaru recommends, if chains required, there only needs to be 2 on the front and should be type S class for minimum clearance. What is the best ones you think would work best on my vehicle? Likely to normally be passed thru any inspection point but a friend of mine in Sierras recently with his 2013 Subaru Outback and they did pass him thru chain control without having to have his cables put on but did make sure he had them with him. Please let me know, thanks.

The owner's manual of your Subaru Outback states in no uncertain terms that tire chains should not be used on your vehicle. "Traction Devices" like cables may be used if they meet Class S specifications and are used on the front tires only.
For cables, I'd recommend using # PW1046 from Glacier Chain along with # PW105 tensioners to keep the cables tight.
