Is it Better to Go with Higher or Lower Rise Ball Mount than Needed
Question:
Truck measures 19.5inch to top inside of receiver square. Trailer measures 21inch to bottom of coupler. This says I need 1.5inch rise. Cant find a Class 3 ball mount with a 1.5inch rise. Should I round down to 1.0inch rise or up to 2inch rise? My instincts say to round up because truck will settle some with tongue weight. Thanks in advance.

You've got good instincts. I recommend going with a ball mount that has a 2 inch rise for the exact reason you mentioned, the truck will settle a bit with the tongue weight and any cargo weight.
The ball mount we offer with a 2 inch rise is the Curt Class III Drawbar # C45270. This is considered an extra long ball mount, measuring 13 inches from the hitch pin hole to the ball hole.
Another option is the Curt Ball Mount for 2 Inch Hitches - Angled Shank # C45230. This ball mount has a 2-3/8 inch rise and measures 8-1/8 or 11-1/8 inches from the hitch pin hole(s) to the ball hole.
We also have the Curt Fusion Ball Mount # C45152 that has a 2 inch rise. This ball mount features a 1-7/8 inch diameter ball welded to the ball mount to help prevent theft of the hitch ball. For a ball mount with a permanent 2 inch diameter hitch ball you can use # C45155 with a 2-1/4 inch rise.
I have attached review videos of all of these ball mounts for you, as well as a link to the page with all of our 2 inch rise ball mounts.
