12 Volt Hot Lead for Trailer Wiring Install Kit for a 2005 Chevy Colorado
Question:
I need to tow a travel trailer, with trailer breaks, with my 05 Z71 Chevy Colorado, while charging my trailer battery. However, I only have a 4-way flat on my truck. I see that I can use this kit to install a 7-way and brake controller, but will this allow me to charge my trailer battery while my truck is running? Is that what the 12 Volt Hot Lead on the diagram is for?

Helpful Expert Reply:
If you install the part # ETBC7 on a vehicle with a 4-way you will end up installing a 7-way which will give you the ability to charge a trailer battery and install a brake controller.
That is what the 12 volt power wire is designed for.
I attached an install video that shows this product being installed in a 2005 Chevy Colorado like yours.
