Can Trailer Brake Assemblies be Mounted Upside Down
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
I just installed new brakes on my trailer but the axle is in the way of getting to the slot and adjustment wheel. Can the brakes be rotated 90 or does the magnet have to be on the bottom?

Expert Reply:
Your trailer brakes will still work with the assemblies mounted upside down where the magnet is above the spindle, but from the customers we know who have done this we have found that the stopping power won't be as strong as if they were mounted the right way.
The best solution you have would be to go with self adjusting brakes so that you could mount them the right way and they wouldn't require you to be able to access the back of the assembly.
For ones that are the same size as your # AKEBRK-6L you would want the part # AKEBRK-7R-SA and # AKEBRK-7L-SA.
