Trailer Wiring Harness Options for a 2004 Nissan Xterra
Question:
If I purchase a 4 pin tow plug that plugs into my vehicle passenger side underneath do I need a converter to have brake and turn signal lights?

The Curt wiring harness # C55244 is meant as a replacement for a 2003 Nissan Xterra that already has a factory 4-Way. If you just need to replace the factory 4-Way this is the harness that you would use and nothing else is required.
If the vehicle did not come with a factory 4-Way then you would need a different harness like # C59236 which is a hardwire powered converter. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you.
