An example of sag on a vehicle's rear axle under a heavy load

Whether you're hauling heavy loads in your bed or cargo area or you're towing a trailer, you will often see the rear of your vehicle sag while the front end rises. In these cases, the rear axle is handling not only the weight of the cargo, but also more of the vehicle's weight. Because less weight is on the front axle, the front tires are making less contact with the road. Overall handling - traction, steering, and braking - is negatively affected. But the resistance from Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System works with your factory suspension to keep your vehicle level and improve your driving experience.

Diagram of the Timbren spring installed

The Timbren system comes with custom-fit brackets that are bolted onto each frame rail above the rear axle. Hollow rubber springs are bolted to the bottom of the bracket and hang down to where the bottom of the spring sits, 1" above the axle. The inch of clearance allows the existing factory suspension to operate normally under light loads and standard terrain, ensuring the smooth, comfortable ride that you are used to.

Animation of a standard Timbren rubber spring

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems are designed to work progressively. When the hollow rubber springs are compressed, the convoluted design causes them to quickly collapse along the folds. Once the folds are compacted, the stacked barrel shape increases resistance, stiffening the suspension and keeping your vehicle level.

Timbren suspension system works to prevent body roll

Each hollow rubber spring works independently to support the driver's side or passenger's side of your vehicle. This is helpful when you swerve or make sharp turns. Each spring is activated when it is needed, so body roll is greatly reduced. The independent action also works well when you are hauling off-center loads.

An example of a trailers swaying

Because the vehicle handles better with the springs, less turbulence will be passed along to the trailer, and this helps to keep the trailer in line. Your driving comfort is further enhanced if the trailer does begin to sway (from a gust of wind or a passing semi), because the movement from the trailer is not transferred to your vehicle. This also works to make the sway subside more quickly.

An empty truck on a bumpy road without Timbren

Another great feature of the rubber construction is that the springs absorb most of the road shock, creating a smoother, more stable ride overall. Wear and tear on the factory suspension is also lessened because the rubber springs work to prevent bottoming out on rough roads.

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Compared to the Competition

Timbren's Suspension Enhancement Systems are much easier to install than air springs - there are no air hoses to run, no compressors or gauges to hook up, and no manual adjustments to make. The rubber construction makes Timbren's springs more elastic than similar products constructed of microcellular urethane. And more elasticity allows for a more comfortable ride because the rubber has more travel.

So far soo good. Very easy to install on my 04 Nissan Titan. Took a little over two hours total to assemble all the tools lift the truck, set up my pneumatic tools, remove old bumppad and install new spring helpers. Hauled my first load of 2700 pounds of gravel. Much improved ride and vehicle control compared with stock suspension. Also rear end was atleast 3 inches higher than stock

Still works great when hauling a load. Unloaded, ride is very firm but to be expected

No complaints! Does a great job of keeping my Nissan Titan level when pulling my car hauler or camper. Install was very simple

Very easy to install even though the istructions haven't been updated to the '17-'19 model year Titans. You have to remove the bump stop that is mounted to the top (instructions show it mounted to the leaf spring). To install the bump stops simply pull out, then you remove the mounting plate with a 1/2" socket, then follow the included instructions.

I bought this to help my pickup sit more level and to help provide a little extra lateral stability in crosswinds when towing my travel trailer. It certainly helps with being more level, but I haven't towed in the wind yet to see if it helps in that area. I measured the top of the tire to the fender and it is 5.5" in the front, 5.25" in the rear with the travel trailer fully loaded and ready for camping.

I gave this four stars because it looked like it was used when it showed up. It doesn't have to be pretty, but I really don't like buying new items and receiving used ones.

I would love to give a review on your product. If there WAS a product in the box that was delivered to my house. How can a business send an empty box to a customer instead of the product that was ordered?

I installed the timbren rear suspension system... I have been very happy with the product and would encourage anyone looking to enhance tow capacity of a truck to use this system

Glad to hear that you are happy with your Timbren suspension kit! Please just keep in mind that while this kit does enhance your vehicle suspension, it will not increase the actual weight capacity of your vehicle. This is the same among all of the suspension enhancement products.

The Timbren Aeon Spring System Vehicle Suspension was easy to install on my 2005 Nissan Titan. The only problem I have is that the, per the Timbren instructions, your load is only taken on by the Tembren (rubbers) after the load on your vehicle's leaf springs depressing allows contact with rubbers. Only on my truck the it's the opposite. I'm riding on the rubbers without any extra weight in my bed, causing a very uncomportable ride, and a lot of unnecessary bouncing around. It's great when I'm pulling my 26' travel trailer, or my fully loaded 16' wood hauling utility trailer. They also make the back of my tailgate higher, making it harder to load and unload. After I bring my travel trailer down from my hunting camp the Timbren rubbers are coming off.

This is the second truck that I own which I have them on. I have them on my Ford diesel truck which I pull a 12000 lb 5th wheel, and now my nissan truck for pulling my boat and 4 wheeled. These are a great cheap investment which I recommend.

Absolutely would recommend these springs. I have recommended them to others who have also purchased them. They also are sold.

by:
2007 NissanTitan

Unhappy with the unloaded ride quality when installed on my Nissan Titan, especially on rough roads! Timbren should have used a much softer rubber spring for this application. I chose to remove these after only one week because I could not tolerate the ride. Unfortunately I didn't experience this product under a loaded condition when pulling my travel trailer. I am going to try the Firestone Workrite product next (I hope it is better), sine I want to stick with an airless helper spring system.

by:

Very satisfied! Easy to install and use on my Nissan Titan. I didn’t even need to remove the wheel to install it. Now my truck does not squat when pulling a trailer or carrying heavy load.

I know it will be lovely when loaded or the trailer on. However,it rides like a wagon empty with brand new premium shocks and struts empty. Thud thud thud. You really cannot feel the shocks or suspension. Found exact same item plentiful for 60 bucks on eBay after I bought these for 250. I may cut these in half or put air bag on. I do not like the ride empty. No hard feelings. It is a good product maybe just not for me.

by:

About a 1/2 inch difference in gap at the bump stop perch but still within parameters. Truck sits perfect with trailer attached. Haven’t towed yet. After towing if they perform like they should will upgrade to a 5 star. Easy to install, definitely needed 2x4 and jack. 2011 Silverado ext cab with 30 ft Genisis 5th wheel.

by:

Was able to install these with a 15mm flex head ratchet wrench and lifted the rear of the truck to make it easier. 30 minutes to take off 4 nuts and put em back on. 2 minutes assembling the timbrens with the added spacer. I have a f350 with a salter and plow. Loaded with salt the lights shoot up and in the snow ?? it’s like hitting hyper drive and you’re blinded. These helped big time. Very happy so far.

by:

The pro: The longer, heavier bump stops worked great when hauling my mustang home from Chicago. The truck stayed level and handled great.
The con: I had to remove the bump stops for everyday use. They limited my suspension travel causing a stiffer ride.

by:

Haven’t had it on long, but so far so good. 1999 F350 dually. Bolted up nicely. Total job took 10 minutes. Have hauled two gooseneck loads of hay and truck drives SO much better. Nice and level. Money well spent so far.

  • Will Timbren Suspension Enhancement System Increase Payload of 2012 Nissan Titan Pro 4X?
Adding suspension enhancement like the Timbren # TNRTTN you referenced does substantially help with load support and reducing sag, however it does not increase the payload capacity of your truck. Your 2012 Nissan Titan Pro 4X will have the same 1850 lbs of payload but the system will assist with stability by reducing squat, reducing body roll, and assisting with shock absorption. It will assist far better than adding a leaf spring as that will change the ride of your truck when not...

  • Can Timbren Suspension Enhancement Be Used With Weight Distribution System On 2005 Nissan Titan
You can use a Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System, part # TNRTTN on your 2005 Titan with a weight distribution system. The Timbren system is designed to help increase stability and reduce sag when weight is added to the back of a truck. I would recommend adjusting the weight distribution system after installing the Timbren system to make sure it is set up correctly for your camper and any of the load you put in the bed of your truck. The Timbren system will not affect the ride...

  • Will the Timberens part # TNRTTN Work on my 2018 Nissan Titan with an Equalizer Weight Distribution
Great news! The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System part # TNRTTN will work out great with your 2018 Nissan Titan and will work perfectly in conjunction with your weight distribution system.. With your equalizer system as part of the equation I recommend after installing the Timbrens that you re check the system per the instructions to ensure that the system is still optimized and does not need fine tuning.

  • Will Timbren Kit for 2017 Nissan Titan Provide Support Even with Weight Distribution
The Timbren kit part # TNRTTN is a confirmed fit for your 2017 Nissan Titan and is going to provide you with additional suspension support when towing. Typically you don't need a kit like this if you already have weight distribution but if you are near the capacity of the truck additional suspension support will help so this would be a solid choice for you.

  • Which Timbren SES System for 2017 Nissan Titan SL
For your 2017 Nissan Titan SL you will actually need the # TNRTTN and not the # TNRTTNB, which is only designed to fit on the 2017 Nissan Titan Pro-4x. The difference isn't the ride height, but the available mounting spots for on the two trucks are slightly different. This system will install on your rear axle and provide you with a great system to help reduce vehicle sag when towing or carrying heavy payloads.

  • Recommendation for a Rear Suspension Enhancement for a 2004 Nissan Titan Pickup
I have a solution that is the confirmed fit for your 2004 Nissan Titan. Unfortunately, the Air Lift AirCell Helper Springs that you asked about will not fit a 2004 Nissan Titan. These helper springs will only fit full-size Ford pickups. For your Nissan, I recommend the Timbren Rear Enhancement System, # TTORTUN4 for 2-wheel dive or # TNRTTN for the 4-wheel drive model Titan. The Timbren system will improve the suspension and handling of your loaded Nissan Titan. The Aeon rubber springs...

Since you are towing a travel trailer, you are going to want to use a Timbren system that enhances your rear suspension. This system is going to level out your ride and help reduce sag when hauling heavier loads. They install without requiring drilling and replace your axle's bump stops. • Rear Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for 2010 Nissan Titan with 1 inch Lift
A shackle lift is considered a suspension lift since it raises the frame of the vehicle away from the axle. So you would need lift spacers to use a suspension enhancement kit. I have a very similar solution, but the Work Rite kits don't have lift spacers available. You would want the very similar Timbren part # TNRTTN and then the 1 inch lift spacer # A25723-90AH00 and you would be set.

  • Is the 1/2" Spacer # TA25722-90P00 Compatible with the Timbren # TNRTTN on a 2017 Nissan Titan
Yes, the Timbren 1/2" Spacer # TA25722-90P00 is compatible with the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TNRTTN for your 2017 Nissan Titan. Please note that per the linked instructions for the suspension kit Timbren says that there should be a 1/2" - 1-1/2" gap between the rubber spring and contact point when there is no load in the vehicle. If you installed this kit and you have 1/2" of space then you actually won't need the spacer.

  • Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for 2006 Nissan Titan That Will fit with 5th Wheel Rails
It looks like the Firestone kit part # F2355 could fit on your vehicle with fifth wheel rails # C16470-204, but since it hasn't been tested we really can't say for certain. The safe bet would be the Timbrens that we know will fit. Such as the Timbren kit # TTORTUN4 for 2-wheel-drive Titans (or part # TNRTTN for 4-wheel drive models). As you mentioned your 2019 Nissan Titan being a work truck there will be another option, but there is no spacer available for the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SS95GR, unfortunately.
